Dosti

First of all, I cannot believe no one has commented on this classic movie yet! I had the fortune of watching it for the first time last year and I was blown away! The honesty that the 2 almost unknown boys bring to the screen is unmatched. The movie tells the story of 2 lost - one blind and the other crippled - boys who God has given the gift of music. While they both realize they are the only ones left in the world to take care of each other, the true bonds of friendship surfaces. While the blind boy is looking for his sister, he also is making his friendship with the crippled boy stronger each day.

With some mind blowing music that brought out quite possibly Mohd. Rafi sa'ab's memorable classics like - "Chahoonga Mein Tujhe..." , "Jaane Waalon Zara..." etc, this movie is a beautiful treat to the ardent Bollywood fan. Acting wise both Sushil and Sudhir Kumar portray their roles with élan. Its a shame these 2 talents did not go beyond this mega block buster movie.

A 10 without a doubt.

I watched the movie and can't resist appreciating one of the master class from Indian Cinema. What a depiction of friendship !! just amazing....This is third movie which broke me in tears , the first two being Mera Naam Joker and Shree 420. The two actors Sudhir Kumar and Shushil Kumar have performed as if they were born to play the role. They can't be so much bonded even in real life as they are in the movie. Direction is also perfect with each emotion being captured and portrayed so simply but vividly . Mohan bringing lantern for Ramu was just superb and the way Ramu's examination result is disclosed to Mohan at the end is so heart touching and emotional that one can hardly resist ones tears. I was lucky to watch it alone at night with no one around to disturb and was just captivated in the movie for 3 hours.

Three cheers to Tarachandji.....Hats off to you....

It will be a great injustice not to comment on songs. No wonder the film won all five best Filmfare awards of 1965. There couldn't be a better lyrics and better voice . I usually fwd the songs while watching a movie on DVD but this was an exception as the songs are worth listening. Md. Rafi at his best ...

It feels so bad that with so much advanced technology now a days in Bollywood somehow the real art and classics are lost and worst is that the loss is beyond repair with increasing commercialization and glamor. Gone are the days of real classics.

A must watch movie for all who love Indian Cinema.

I first watched this movie when I was a teenager, and I have never forgotten the intense emotions that I felt. Dosti is my all-time favourite film; I have not seen another that has left me with a deeper impression. The story-line is quite unbelievable What is best about Dosti is the music --- just mesmerizing .

very heart touching movie. i loved this great era old movie.. the legend of old movie. this movie is very nice. old is gold its true here. the songs are very touchy.

i have seen this movie 10 times. must watch who loves Indian movies. i love Indian cinema. now all things changed in movie industry but old is gold. every Indian must watch this movie.the story about friendship n humanity. just watch n enjoy. excellent movie.

Dosti is my all-time favourite film; I have not seen another that has left me with a deeper impression. The story-line, at times, was quite unbelievable, but then this was Indian film-making. What is best about Dosti is the music --- just mesmerizing --- thirty years after I first heard it, it still resound in my ears, even though I have not heard it again till recently. And after years of searching, I finally managed to purchase a DVD of the film; unfortunately the quality isn't very good, and a great part of the English subtitles (I don't understand Hindhi) was missing. If anyone out there knows of where I can get a good quality DVD of the film with English subtitles, I would appreciate hearing from you.
