Colorful Colorado

Traveltalks goes to Colorado and starts in Denver. They visit the grave and memorial to Buffalo Bill and then Will Rogers. Then it's mountains, the parks, and the rivers. There is a bit of colors like the goldfish and the rainbow in the waterfall. Finally, there are the cliff dwellings of the ancient native Americans. This is perfectly fine. It's nothing specular but it all looks pretty good. It's a solid Traveltalks.

James A. Fitzpatrick sends the Technicolor cameras unde the supervision of cameraman Virgil Miller to Colorado; once again, I remind the people who have read others of my reviews of the Traveltalks during the Second World War, that there was a war going on, and long-distance travel was risky, so the MGM travelogues mostly stuck to the US, with occasional trips to Mexico and Canada.

Once the camera gets out of Denver, there are a lot of shots taken from a moving car. There's some nice pictures in very good shape on the print that plays on Turner Classic Movies.

One of the better entries in MGM's TravelTalks series takes us to Colorado where we get a quick history of the state before seeing some of the famous places there including a stop by the grave of Buffalo Bill. We also see the Will Rogers Memorial in Colorado Springs as well as the Red Rock Mountains. Other things we learn is the fact that over 100,000 fishing license are given each year, which works out good because there are over 6,000 miles of streams and millions of fish are released in them each year. If you're a fan of the series then you know we get some beautiful Technicolor that brings all of this stuff to life and of course James Fitzpatrick's narration helps tell the stories. He even gets a director's credit here and there's no question that he knows what to film and how to bring it to life. The beautiful Technicolor really makes this entry work because there's so much beautiful in the land that you can't help but be soaked up into everything you're watching.
