Excessive Force II: Force on Force

I had just recently watched the 1993 movie "Excessive Force" for the first time, and had overly enjoyed it, and thus I opted to continue on and watch the 1995 sequel.

Now, how this movie from writer Mark Sevi got to become a sequel to the 1993 movie "Excessive Force", I cannot fathom, as the movies have nothing in common, aside from the title. I was expecting some kind of connection between the two movies at least. That being said, then the storyline in this 1995 sequel was pretty straightforward, and proved to be watchable enough, I suppose.

There were some familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Stacie Randall, Dan Gauthier, James Lew, Dan Lauria and Tom Wright. The acting performances in the movie were fair.

"Excessive Force II: Force on Force" was certainly a watchable movie, but it just wasn't up to par with the previous movie. I suppose if you haven't watched the first movie, then this sequel would be more enjoyable.

What kept this movie afloat for me was mainly the action sequences.

Sure, I managed to sit through the movie in its entire 88 minute runtime, but I was not overly entertained. This is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.

My rating of director Jonathan Winfrey's 1995 movie lands on a four out of ten stars.

"Excessive Force II" has a thin revenge plot (which can almost be summed up in the following sentence: "They left her for dead....and now they're going to pay"), but the action (fights, explosions, and a car chase) is not bad, and Stacie Randall is a solid heroine. Not only does she have a stunningly beautiful face and a magnificent body, but she also handles the action like a pro. Some of her fight scenes are thrilling (the choreography is by James Lew and Phillip Tan, both with numerous similar credits on IMDb), and she's not afraid to get down and dirty when the part requires it. In short, those expecting a brilliant action film won't get it here, and the fans of the original (yes, all 3 of them) won't like the fact that this "sequel" is completely unrelated, but fans of action films with strong female leads won't be disappointed.
