Death + Death Metal makes this one the best!

This is the best of the series or of any similar gore film series! It keeps the narration cheese level down and the much more appropriate, Death Metal cranked up! Apparently, there are actually gore hounds that don't like Death Metal, (although, I have never personally met one) and they all seemed to have written a review complaining about the soundtrack to this film. I believe this film's soundtrack to be far superior and more appropriate for the visuals you see, making this "movie" the best of the bunch. I guess if you prefer to see a human body destroyed to the spaced out synthesizer soundtrack from Logan's Run, stick with the first one. Me? I will take Unleashed's Swedish Death Metal soundtrack for the win!

Beyond that, it's more of the same as the first one (which I assume you have seen if you're reading this.) In a nutshell, it's a plethora of nasty bits of real Ultra Violence splattering your screen and your dreams for over an hour. There's some narration telling the viewer what they're seeing and that's the basic concept.

    "Highlights" include:

Accidents, executions, suicides, punishments, murders, a sex change and at least one act of revenge that is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Seriously, it's probably the most satisfying death to be displayed in any of the five films. Obviously this film is not for everyone. I own the 5 DVD collection, so I guess that says something about me.

Death + Death Metal is a winning combination!

    I Said I Wouldn't Do This...

Horror fans, when taken to the extreme, are into some pretty bizarre things. Case in point being this "movie," a follow-up to Traces of Death, which came out a year before this sequel. It's easy to know why they would hurriedly produce this piece of work: it's inexpensive to gather a compilation of other people's footage and pay someone to record a little bit of dialogue to play over them. The budget was even upped for this one, licensing some music (or hiring artists to record specifically for) the movie. It serves to add to the heartless theme of sensationalization toward the real-life deaths of fellow human beings, and it's used to the point of overkill. Sure, playing death metal over images of dead bodies makes it look more intense, but it's also important to bear in mind that these are real human beings, real lives that were lost, and here they are, once again, being exploited for cheap entertainment. The irony is not lost on me that I'm playing into the machine by viewing and giving this film the time of day, but it doesn't make the material any more acceptable. This caters to a very niche market and, while it's understandable that the original film would spark a morbid curiosity in the viewer, the fact that it carries over into a sequel and beyond is actually ridiculous and totally unjustified. There's no plot to this, just like the predecessor, making it feel more like a "how long can you last" challenge than a horror film. It's just a series of grotesque images and videos presented one right after another. The benefit of this one over the first one is that it seems to be more concerned about the brutal behaviour in which we humans can often take part in with other human beings, which is barbaric to say the least. But that, in and of itself, does not a good movie (or sequel) make. This franchise is best left in the past, on a dusty shelf or in a plastic bin in a musty basement with the other unmentionable VHS tapes, collecting mould to the point of being unplayable. No rhyme or reason; let's just laugh and make a spectacle of the suffering of others. Staying classy, guys. Truly.

WoW! This one is more gory and deady than the firs...

WoW! This one is more gory and deady than the first! If you liked Traces OF death...watch Traces OF Death II! The only thing I didn't like is they combined Death metal music with scenes of human death..but if you like Death metal that's ok. I particularly like the people jumping from buildings on fire! One sicko jumped just in front of a camera. See a solider losing his arm, and a native being castrated - this scene makes me feel very uncomfortable. There is another scene of punishment for rape; human sacrifices; murders. In the first Traces you can see a male to female sex change, in this one it's a female to male sex change... and much, much, more. If you are sick like me you will love this movie!

    The background music killed it

I love a good shockumentary, and i admit Traces of Death 2 contains enough good footage and nastyness but... the music ruined it. I watch these docs for the footage and not for the metal, it's just a shame.

    Simply Excruciating.

Over the years I have seen many different types of faces of death movies. You have "The Many Faces of Death part 1-10", "Faces of Death part 1-4" (I think), and others like "Banded in America". But none of those comes close to "Traces of Death" Part 1-5. Excellent death movies, simply excruciating scenes of pain and death, and on top of that a bad *ss soundtrack with some wicked death metal music. I would have to say parts one and two are the best, three was weak and 4 and 5 were better. If you for some chance run across these movies check it out. I know there are many people out there who hate these films but these can also teach you some things. Things like never fly a ballon near power lines, never run out in front of a motorcycle, never p*** off an African tribe, and never get a sex change! 9/10 stars.
