Candace Hutson was the only one from the original Land Before Time to reprise her role as Cera.

This was the film that introduced the musical element into the series, which has remained ever since.

Some of the sound effects from the video game Doom (1993) are used for the T-Rexes (Sharpteeth).

This is one of the few films in the series where a character refers to themselves by their species name, as shown during a song sequence when Ozzy identifies himself as 'this Struthiomimus'.

Also the first in the series to have the animation done mainly overseas, in this case here the South Korean-based AKOM who would be involved with the franchise up until the sixth film in the series The Secret of Saurus Rock which was their last contribution for the Land Before Time series.
