A very well photographed picture, but to see such raw and simple plot, which does not include a minimal surprise is not amusing after all, it's a waste of time. Avoid this one, if you want to be entertained wholly. Only suitable for cutting and screen studies, in addition it will not be difficult to conceive a better screenplay. One of the most lousy variations of the "Bonnie&Clyde"-theme

This movie lacks everything a good movie needs. The plot is rather idiotic and the characters remain very superficial with Mom James playing a key role: hit & run over and over again, and her boys (Spendlove Sr, Jr and Uncle Frank) making sure there is always an escape route. Except a few 'esthetic' shots which please the eye, even camerawork is not quite inviting a higher rate than it deserves: 1. There is however some goods news: the first frame in which a bird can vaguely be seen on a blue and musical background might give the viewer reason to believe a decent movie will unfold, and yes, sometimes there is a twist to the story which might surprise some viewers. Unfortunately I was not one of them.

"The James Gang" is one of those high energy, stylish films with a lot of heart. A rare treat for a British film and a real achievement for a first time feature director (Mike Barker who also gave us "Best Laid Plans"). Although it isn't a "perfect" movie it won't dissapoint those who enjoy well crafted movies
