Roger Howarth, the Emmy award-winning actor who most recently portrayed the contract role of Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt on “General Hospital,” is joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless” for a “mystery role” that will bring him to Genoa City later this year.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Howarthworth is set to begin taping episodes in mid-September at the Television City studio, where the soap opera is based in Hollywood, with his first scenes set to air in the fall.

After the news broke, Howarth took to Instagram on Thursday, posting, “Excited and appreciative… I’m a lucky guy…,” while including a photo of himself that has him crossing his fingers.

Deadline was the first to report the casting news. According to the outlet, Howarth will be “part of a major story arc this fall.” There was no word on who the iconic soap actor would play or which story he would impact.

The Runarounds isn’t your ordinary teen drama. The Prime Video series, dropping on September 1, is ready to drum up some serious fun — and music. Hulu has given a pilot order to a series adaptation of Nash Jenkins’ 2023 novel “Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos.” Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran write and executive produce the teen mystery series.

Set at a boarding school on the East Coast, the project “explores privilege, scandal, sexuality and masculinity amid the rise of social media, millennial anxiety and pharmaceuticals,” per Hulu’s official logline. The book is narrated by an unnamed student of the boarding school who moves into a dorm room once occupied by Foster Dade, who had transferred to the boarding school in 2008 but was later expelled due to a scandal that the narrator investigates over the course of years.

Berlanti is one of Hollywood’s most prolific producers and is especially known for his work on teen dramas and within the DC universe. Among his prominent credits are “Dawson’s Creek,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Riverdale,” “You” and “All American.

For those who may be too young to have experienced Dawson’s Creek in its heyday, the series was peak teenage drama in an era where that genre of television was as popular as it’s ever been.

The former Dawson’s Creek co-stars, who also briefly dated back in the late ’90s, spent the afternoon filming scenes for their upcoming movie Happy Hours on Friday (July 25) in New York City.

While they were in Washington Square Park, Katie, 46, was seen laughing as Josh, 47, pushed around a baby stroller.

Happy Hours is described as “a story about two people navigating their relationship within the challenges of careers and family responsibilities and the pursuit of love, despite life’s inevitable obstacles. It’s a character-driven dramedy that explores the emotional journey of young loves who reconnect as adults, with the connective thread of shared joys, loss, and hope.”

Along with starring in the project, Katie also serves as director and writer.

Shooting begins on the first Happy Hours installment in New York this summer.
