The upcoming Monsterverse movie Godzilla X Kong: Supernova is shaping up to be the biggest film in the franchise yet. Originally intended to serve as an exciting conclusion to the franchise, Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) ultimately reinvigorated the series, paving the way for the sequel, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. However, one constant complaint that has been levied against the series since 2014, with Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, is a lack of an engaging human narrative to pair with the intense kaiju fights. According to one actor in the upcoming film, that specific complaint will be addressed in Supernova.
In an interview with Ktvu in Oakland, Delroy Lindo, who recently made waves for his performance as Delta Slim in Ryan Coogler's Sinners, talked about his upcoming role in Godzilla X Kong: Supernova. As the actor would tell the news station, it was the production team's dedication to crafting an engaging human character...

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender was released on February 22, 2024, and the live-action series ended up being a successful outing. Season 1 of the series adapted the first season of the original Atla Nicklodeoncartoon, titled Book One: Water. As expected with adaptations, the Netflix series made some changes to suit its own creative needs but was able to introduce some of the franchise's fan-favorite minor characters, including bounty hunter June, portrayed by Arden Cho (Teen Wolf). June's introduction was as terrifying as the cartoons as her shirshu sniffer mount, Nyla, equally made a debut. Now, Cho has revealed some uncertainty regarding a return in future seasons.
After the first season, the streamer renewed the series for a second and third season, as trust in the project seems set in stone. Despite minor characters making returns in the original Nicklodeon series, including June, Cho shared an uncertain update regarding her character's future on the show.

One would be hard-pressed to find a Dragon Ball Z fan who considers Yamcha their favorite character. Throughout the iconic Shonen anime, Yamcha does nothing except lose fights and humiliate himself, and his behavior doesn't render him particularly endearing. True as this may be, those who've watched the original anime are well aware that things weren't always like this.
Yamcha may be a joke to Dragon Ball fans, but he was the true hero of the series' first ever arc. In the Pilaf Saga, Yamcha is the character who overcomes personal struggles, changes as a person, and saves the day. While he may spend most of the arc working against Goku and Bulma, Yamcha's journey throughout the arc, culminating in his fight against Great Ape Goku, forms its emotional core.

It's been a dark time for fans of Warner Bros. and their expansive ownership of various IPs and characters. While there has been a clear investment in things like James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe, there has also been what could be considered a purging of content in the name of tax write-offs and profitability. Among such write-offs was the live-action-animated hybrid film Coyote vs. Acme, which had tried to find a new distributor early last year before ultimately being shelved. However, a new report has provided a big update on the film's future, as a potential new buyer has entered the fray.
A new report from Deadline has revealed that Ketchup Entertainment, the distributor and financier that also bought The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is in "deep-sale negotiations" for the movie centered around Wile E. Coyote and his legal battle against Acme.

She had been part of the series from the start, appearing in its first four seasons. The news came in 2016, catching her off guard just days before the episode was set to film.
She shared her feelings on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Inside of You, saying, “I had to eat some humble pie when they killed me off that show. It was really hard.” Cassidy felt a mix of emotions—sadness, shock, and even anger.
She remembered being on a call with producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, who told her, “Listen, unfortunately I have to tell you you’re the one that’s in the grave.” That moment hit her hard, especially since she loved playing Laurel...

The idea of artists needing a “career reboot” often has as much to do with the petulant impatience of content-saturated fans than the actual situation of the artist in question. But in the case of Sia, the urgency of a course correction is hard to deny. Tierra Whack has released her new album, World Wide Whack, via Interscope Records. Stream one of our most anticipated albums of 2024 below.
Billed as her debut album, World Wide Whack follows Whack’s acclaimed 2018 project Whack World. Much like her first debut, this debut’s artsy, playful take on hip-hop comes accompanied by original images and videos. The combination of sonics and visuals fleshes out the fictional character Whack inhabits for the duration of the album, a character who’s described as “an alter ego both untouchable and vulnerable, superhuman, and painfully human.”
Whack went deeper into the project’s vulnerability in an Instagram post that she posted alongside the single “27 Club.” “I was in a dark place for a long time, and no one knew. 7 November 2023 – Grammy-nominated and artistic maven Tierra Whack (Interscope Records/Universal Music Canada) is making waves with her latest single, “Chanel Pit,” which is out today on all streaming platforms. The infectious track finds the lyrically gifted Mc dishing out her trademark flavourful bars regarding her dominance over the competition on speaker-rattling production orchestrated by Nick Verruto. The official music video — directed by frequent collaborator Alex Lill — makes “Chanel Pit” a welcomed addition to Whack’s extensive catalog of experimental visuals with the multi-hyphenate putting herself — with no vehicle — through a fully functional car wash as overhead and vertical brushes clean her up while also giving her a fresh polish. Change is the only constant might sound like a cliché, but it is worth repeating because it is as true today as it was one hundred years ago.
It comes in many ways, and one of those ways is growth, whether physical or mental. As people grow, they move on to other things in their lives, and that transition is never always easy.
Some sacrifice their futures for comfort, while others blow up their lives when they leave their comfort zones.

The following contains spoilers for Secret Invasion Episode 5, "Harvest," now streaming on Disney+.
While some fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe think Secret Invasion is too low-stakes, the entire powerset of the Avengers is now in play. "Harvest" is both the episode title and what Nick Fury calls a very creepy collection of his. It's also a very interesting MCU concept that could come back to haunt the heroes who don't even know it exists.
Along with trying to provoke a war between human governments, Gravik's plan in Secret Invasion is also to collect superpowers. He and G'iah have the powers of Groot, Cull Obsidian, the Extremis formula from Iron Man 3 and the frost creature seen in the post-credits of Thor: The Dark World. His attack on the president in the previous episode shows they are formidable. However, if Gravik was able to imbue himself with the powers of Captains America,...

The Avengers have been a home for some of the most influential heroes in comics, and together, they've faced countless powerful enemies like Kang the Conqueror and Ultron. But with so many heroes and villains that have interacted with the team, there's been many that have endured personal troubles, from Tony Stark's bought with alcoholism to Bruce Banner's struggles with a dissociative identity disorder. Yet, even with so many unique characters on the team, none have endured more than one of their founding members, Hank Pym.
Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man, was a hero that never wanted to be in the business for a long time. When J.R.R. Tolkien originally wrote The Lord of the Rings, he conceived it as one enormous epic. After World War II, there was a huge shortage of paper, and the author's publisher Allen & Unwin was unwilling to commit to producing thousands of copies of a book that length due to the prohibitive costs of the materials required. As a result, it decided to divide the work into three separate releases in order to mitigate its expenditure.
These three stories, therefore, needed individual titles to identify them outside The Lord of the Rings' overarching header. Both The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King are self-explanatory, but the reasoning behind The Two Towers is undoubtedly more mysterious. With several different options for which towers the title refers to, Tolkien did have a definitive answer, but it remains a topic of significant debate.

As is annual tradition, Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden has announced this year’s 25 film set to join the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. Selected for their “cultural, historic and/or aesthetic importance,” the films picked range from such beloved actioners as “Die Hard,” childhood classic “The Goonies,” the seminal “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” and the mind-bending “Memento,” with plenty of other genres and styles represented among the list.
The additions span 1905 to 2000, and includes Hollywood blockbusters, documentaries, silent movies, animation, shorts, independent, and even home movies. The 2017 selections bring the number of films in the registry to 725.
“The selection of a film to the National Film Registry recognizes its importance to American cinema and the nation’s cultural and historical heritage,” Hayden said in an official statement. “Our love affair with motion pictures is a testament to their enduring power to enlighten, inspire and...

Since 1989, the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress has been accomplishing the important task of preserving films that “represent important cultural, artistic and historic achievements in filmmaking.” From films way back in 1897 all the way up to 2004, they’ve now reached 725 films that celebrate our heritage and encapsulate our film history.
Today they’ve unveiled their 2017 list, which includes such Hollywood classics as Die Hard, Titanic, and Superman along with groundbreaking independent features like Yvonne Rainer’s Lives of Performers, Charles Burnett’s To Sleep with Anger, and Barbara Loden’s Wanda. Also making this list are a pair of Kirk Douglas-led features, Ace in the Hole and Spartacus, as well as Christopher Nolan’s Memento and more. Check out the full list below and you can watch some films on the registry for free here.

Although the Cannes Film Festival line-up has now been unveiled, for the vast majority of those reading, we’ll have to wait some time before we’re sitting in the theater watching this year’s selections. Thankfully, to get a taste of what to expect, a handful of teasers have arrived for a few of our most-anticipated films — and one we’re curious about.
First up, Kiyoshi Kurosawa is back with the fascinating-sounding Before We Vanish, an alien movie which looks to be conveyed in the striking manner only he can deliver. Then there’s a brief preview for another prolific filmmaker’s latest work as François Ozon‘s L’Amant Double, a psycho-sexual thriller starring Jérémie Renier and Marine Vacth, which turned heads with the debut of its first Nsfw look.
Then there’s a new teaser for Michel Hazanavicius‘ Jean-Luc Godard biopic, Redoubtable. Featuring Louis Garrel as Godard...

Continuing the Marvel news from New York Comic-Con 2013, Marvel have announced another new series for their All-New Marvel Now! line-up in 2014, this time featuring the all-star creative team of Superior Spider-Man writer Dan Slott and Ff artist Mike Allred: Silver Surfer. Slott talked about the changes he’s brought to the character, notably the addition of a female companion for the cosmic herald:
“When you think of the Silver Surfer, you think of the lone sentinel of the skyways. He’s always very lonely on that board all by himself. And this is a book about a girl onboard … a kindred spirit who’s an Earth girl. And you’re going to find out the universe is more fun when you see it with someone.”

5. Ally Condie
Starting the list off at number five is Ally Condie and her Matched trilogy. The series follows protagonist Cassia Reyes in a dystopian future where people are paired up for marriage by Society. Love and attraction don’t play a part in the matching of the newly turned seventeen year olds, but rather the pairing is strictly based on science and algorithms. When Cassia is paired up with her childhood best friend, Xander Carrow, her future looks bright, until she begins to fall in love with Ky Markham, an outcast amongst their society.
While it seems that all popular young adult novels these days fall under the dystopian banner, Condie’s work is both gripping and greatly refreshing. And while her book does play with the ever present teenage love triangle, hers doesn’t feel forced or generic. Cassia’s doubt, fear and uncertainty come across as genuine,...

People can't stop talking about the giant, purple, mutant-hunting robots—and rightfully so! Need I reiterate that they are giant purple robots? It does not get much cooler than that.
The robotic foes have been a thorn in the X-Men's side since their early days, and the mechanical menaces have popped up in everything from video games to cartoons over the franchise's 50 years of existence. Truthfully, we could easily do more than one Required Reading post about the Sentinels—and we could even throw in a Required Watching or two ("Final Decision" from "X-Men" season one!). But when it comes down to the most essential Sentinel stories, here are the five that made the cut.

Well the hoopla is over for another year as Hollywood relishes in its self congratulatory extravagance with a ceremony that celebrates all that is “good” about the industry (and a ceremony that seems to ignore Everything joe public thinks is good). It’s also nice to see Christopher Plummer pick up his First Academy Award for his role in Beginners – definitely long-overdue methinks.

Nominations for the 84th Academy Awards were announced today (Tuesday, January 24) by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2010 Oscar® nominee Jennifer Lawrence. Brace yourselves for the surprises and omissions. The nominees were a little more than crazy this year to say the least – nine best picture nominees! This year’s balloting rules allowed for the possibility of between five and ten Best Picture nominees, and for the first time in Academy history, nine films have been nominated in that category.
Now for the shockers. No Michael Fassbender in the Best Actor category…no Albert Brooks in Best Supporting Actor category…no Adventures Of Tintin or Cars 2 in the Animated category! Terrence Malick and The Tree Of Life both saw some love with 2 nods this morning. How grand that Rooney Mara, Demián Bichir, Jonah Hill, and Nick Nolte are coming to the big party this year!

The nominations for the 84th annual Academy Awards were announced this morning, and Hugo surprised everyone, taking the lead with 11 nods. The Artist was close behind, with 10 nominations. Leonardo DiCaprio’s J. Edgar and Ryan Gosling’s Drive were shut out of any major awards, but Supporting nods for Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy and Moneyball’s Jonah Hill should please a lot of folks. On our homework list: A Better Life (star Demian Bichir is up for Best Actor), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (ditto for Gary Oldman) and Animated Feature nominee A Cat in Paris, just for its awesome name. Stay tuned for plenty of analysis, photos and more on the Oscars, as we update throughout the day! Scroll down for the complete list.

In science and philosophy, there are several so-called multiverse theories that propose - as the name suggests - the existence of many different universes.
The term multiverse was coined in 1895 so the idea has clearly been around for a while; among the theories is the many worlds interpretation (or Mwi) which claims that every possible outcome of every event exists in its own reality.
These heady and exciting concepts have proved very useful to science fiction writers. Examples include the local, independent film Triple Hit, which featured three versions of the Earth and its inhabitants; and TV dramas such as Fringe, whose storyline features a parallel universe.
To those examples you can add the upcoming movie 15 Till Midnight, which wrapped principal photography and showed off its first trailer in May last year. A new poster for the project has been unveiled and is featured above.

Damsels in Distress
Opens: 2011
Cast: Adam Brody, Analeigh Tipton, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Ryan Metcalf
Director: Whit Stillman
Summary: The story revolves around a group of style-obsessed college girls who take in a new student (Gerwig) and teach her their misguided ways of helping people at their grungy university.
Analysis: The first film in a decade from arthouse darling Whit Stillman, a filmmaker's filmmaker whose three Manhattan-based, yuppie-themed mannerist comedies - "Metropolitan," "Barcelona" and "The Last Days of Disco" - were a big influence on the likes of auteurs such as Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach. Stillman says this film varies somewhat from his previous trilogy of sorts, telling First Things that "This film is different, Completely different. Okay, not completely different, but it’s different".
Independently financed by Castle Rock CEO Martin Shafer, the project recently wrapped filming in Manhattan where Stillman returned to last year after having spent much...

Room in Rome is a sexy, messy attempt at an erotic drama that will surely garner divisive opinions. Written, produced and directed by Julio Medem (Sex and Lucia), this new film veers wildly from dramatic and serious, to over the top, to blisteringly hot, with detours into extreme pretension and magical realism.
The story concerns two young women – Alba (Elena Anaya) and Natasha (Natasha Yarovenko), and their last-night adventures in the eternal city. Alba is a lesbian, clad in hipster plaid and sneakers, while the striking, statuesque Natasha is assuredly straight.
Nonetheless, Natasha lets Alba take her up to her gorgeously appointed hotel room. After a little initial resistance, and some weirdness with a cell phone, the two end up in bed together, where they proceed to spend the better part of the night.
Scandalously realistic sex scenes are mixed in with a series of often bizarre conversations, as the...
