If like me you like well-made versions from theatre plays turned into films, you should like this one. Elizabeth Gill did a good job of directing these young actors with an able script by Noel Pearson from the original play by Janet Noble. The story is simple enough: several young Irish people share a flat as illegal immigrants in the Bronx, going through the usual problems of finding jobs and finding a place for themselves in a rather large and inhospitable environment. The play is not lacking in humourous touches, though it is basically true drama and has its tragic moment. In this Irish-British production, the young Irish actors play excellent parts and provide several really good scenes.

Well worth seeing if you like serious cinema and you like good characterization. A surprisingly neat little piece in which you can understand and sympathise with the actors and their situations.
