I thought the show was on par with Hercules and Xena with effects, plots, and great actors.
I will miss it from my Saturday afternoon lineup.
The second season, just like the first season, also has great potential. I'm not Maeve fan, so I still followed this season. However, unfortunately, I lost the feeling that I had gotten in first season. Bryn's acting skill was much better than Maeve, but Sinbad and her didn't have such a chemistry as the previous cast. This season was darker but it was not interesting anymore. This season, obviously, had a huge hole in the storyline, if you try to connect its story with the end of the first season. Maeve's departure was such a big loss for this series. Most of my favorite quotes ever from this series came from the first season. Personally, I prefer the first season and based from the series rating, I believe most audiences agree with me.
Of course, this series has some weakness. The special effect, the setting, and some of the plot stories were ridiculous and just kept repeating. Sinbad kissed almost all of the females cast so it kinda boring. But then, I wouldn't expect more from this series in 1996. I won't compare it with 'high-quality story or expensive special effect' series, but this series still good to watch. Anyway, the Maeve theme song (which was played in most of Sinbad-Maeve scenes) was so memorable, and I still remember it until now.
All the other characters were funny (and the only reason I watched the second series in full) and fit in well with the rest of the cast and the story lines.
I loved the awful affects which made it so fun to watch, it was just like an old Sinbad movie. I would love season one on DVD as it is funny but mindless TV that is good to watch after a long day at work but I wouldn't bother with season two as i would find my self skipping all the scenes with Bryn in them (horrible to write but true).
Watch it but realise that it is tongue in cheek.

- Citas
Sinbad: What?
Firouz: I was just admiring your sense of purpose. I mean, you just lead us through a maze without a doubt what so ever.
Sinbad: Is that what it looked like to you? I should have been an actor.
Firouz: Why do you say that?
Sinbad: Because most of the time my sense of purpose amounts to the feeling 'gee, I wonder what would happen if I tried this?'. It's amazing what you accomplish that way.
Firouz: I can't believe that with all your years at sea, your previous adventures, that anything could suprise you.
Sinbad: I'm surprised everyday, Firouz. It's half the fun of living.
Firouz: And the other half?
Sinbad: Wondering what's going to suprise me next.
