Paul Mescal will make his American stage debut this coming spring.

Following his starring role in Gladiator II, Mescal will reprise his role in Rebecca Frecknall’s stage revival of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire. The revival will run Off-Broadway at Bam, or the Brooklyn Academy of Music, from Feb. 28 through April 6.

Before coming to New York, the production will play London’s West End again, at the Noël Coward Theater, from Feb. 3 through Feb. 22. Frecknall’s production of the play was first staged at London’s Almeida Theater in 2022, before transferring to the West End in 2023. The director is currently represented on Broadway by the revival of Cabaret.

The play follows Blanche DuBois, a former Southern belle who has experienced a series of personal misfortunes, as she moves to New Orleans in the apartment rented by her younger sister Stella and brother-in-law Stanley.

The acclaimed London revival of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire starring Paul Mescal, Patsy Ferran and Anjana Vasan will transfer to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for a limited run beginning February 28, 2025, with the Off Broadway run continuing through April 6.

Directed by Rebecca Frecknall, Streetcar will play Bam’s Harvey Theater following a return London engagement that begins February 3.

Jay Kanter, the high-powered Hollywood agent who represented Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe and served as the inspiration for Jack Lemmon’s character in the classic Billy Wilder film The Apartment, died Tuesday. He was 97.

New York — When Cate Blanchett was last in New York, in between her nightly performances in the acclaimed touring production of "Uncle Vanya," she would slip uptown, to the East Side, to stealthily research her role in Woody Allen's latest, "Blue Jasmine."

In it, Blanchett plays Jasmine, a socialite in breakdown, a modern Blanche DuBois (a role Blanchett played a few years ago on stage, the "detritus" of which she says stays with her), distraught and destroyed by the betrayal of her Bernie Madoff-like financier husband (Alec Baldwin). On Jasmine's stomping ground, the Upper East Side, Blanchett bent her ear to the neighborhood's accents of affluence.

Gandolfini died while on holiday in Rome, the cable channel and Gandolfini's managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders said in a joint statement. No cause of death was given.

Transformers actor to play troubled brother who abducts a mobster in next year's staging of Orphans

Shia Labeouf is preparing to make his debut on Broadway.

The Transformers star will appear opposite Alec Baldwin in a revival of Lyle Kessler's 1983 drama Orphans, in which two brothers plot to kidnap a mobster, at the Schoenfeld theatre. Previews start on 19 March. Labeouf will play Treat, the elder and more controlling of the brothers, while Baldwin will play the old-school gangster Harold. Casting for Phillip, Treat's brother, has not yet been finalised. All three characters are orphans.

Actor, potential mayor of NYC, blogger for The Huffington Post, and occasional paparazzo-puncher Alec Baldwin will return to the Great White Way in spring of 2013 for Lyle Kessler’s dark comedy Orphans.

In Kessler’s play, two grown orphan brothers living in the slums of Philadelphia decide to kidnap a wealthy, older man. An educated guess tells me that Baldwin will not be playing either of the poverty-stricken brothers.

Baldwin’s no stranger to Broadway; he was last seen in 2004 in the play “Twentieth Century”. Baldwin also lent his acting ability (and temper) to the iconic role of Stanley Kowalski in 2002’s “A Streetcar Named Desire”. It’s been a while since Baldwin has performed onstage rather than on a set, so it will be interesting to see his transition between stage and screen. New York — Alec Baldwin will be kidnapped on Broadway next spring.

Producers said Wednesday that the "30 Rock" star will appear in Lyle Kessler's "Orphans" in spring of 2013. Daniel Sullivan will direct.

The play, which premiered in 1983, tells the story of two orphaned brothers living in a decrepit Philadelphia row house who decide to kidnap a wealthy man.

It will play at a Shubert-owned theatre to be announced. The rest of the cast and exact dates will be revealed later.

Balwin was last on Broadway in "Twentieth Century" in 2004. Before that, he played Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire" in 1992.

He has appeared in over 40 films, including "Working Girl," "The Hunt for Red October," "Glengarry Glen Ross," "Ghosts of Mississippi," "The Aviator" and "The Departed."...

The multi-faceted Festival, which ran April 28 – May 1, 2011 in Hollywood, was filled with more than 70 screenings, including special introductions, guest appearances, panel discussions and more. The festival opened with the red-carpet gala screening of An American in Paris and TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne served as official host.

Despite being in negotiations to star as matriarch Victoria Barkley in Daniel Adams' and Kate Edelman Johnson's big screen remake of the '60s TV oater The Big Valley, Susan Sarandon is no longer involved. Instead, actress Jessica Lange will don the corset originally worn by the late, great Barbara Stanwyck.

Production will begin on July 19 on location in Baton Rouge. Set in the 1870’s, The Big Valley is the dramatic story of a wealthy ranching family and their conflicts.

Written and directed by Adams, the screenplay was inspired by the original pilot from the TV series, but also employs new material.
