Horrible plot horrible script I mean a 40 yr old man playing a kid...,,,, But yet short somehow makes this work it's a light hearted comedy that I found Rather enjoyable you need to not be so uptight and just be like what the hell To enjoy this movie if you can't do that if you take yourself to seriously you won't like it And you be like a few reviewers on here and hate on the movie Be warned it is normal to loathe the character of Clifford Your either gonna love the character of Clifford or want to kill him lol
This movie is ingenious: an absolute masterpiece. One of the smartest and most original movies I have seen in a long time. Martin Short in the best role of his career playing a conniving, manipulative, all-around brat and absolutely shining while he does it. No one else could pull this off so effectively and convincingly. Charles Grodin and Mary Steenburgen are also excellent and at their finest. A MUST SEE!!!!
This movie is hilarious! Martin Short reverts back to his original "weird & off the wall" humor (SCTV, Glick) in this very funny comedy. This is what he does best.
Though I did enjoy him in other movies in recent years, like "Innerspace", "A Simple Wish", etc., I felt that he was sort of holding back. This movie ushers Mr. Short back into great original comedy stuff.
Although I'll admit- not everyone will find this as funny. You have to be able to appreciate his non-traditional type of comedy. Sort of like "Pee Wee's Big Adventure". I also loved this movie. So, you see, I guess you have to be a little strange to understand - and be amused by - this sort of material.
Funniest moment for me - at the dinner, when some older lady kept making over how "adorable" Clifford was - and he just loses it!
Funniest line - "Oh Ms. Sarah - Uncle Martin's gone Nutty-Nuts! Classic Martin Short!
I don't know why this hasn't been released on DVD yet. I hope it will be soon. 8 out of 10 stars.

This work falls in there with movies like Howard the Duck, Oliver Stone's Alexander, Cherry 2000, and Taylor's Cleopatra in that tons of money was spent in the making, only to have the audiences reject the work.
None of the works named stunk, indeed, there are endearing moments and qualities to every ONE of those works, but as far as average audiences were concerned, they were dismal disappointments, for one reason or another. Clifford is generally considered to have fallen into that category.
Martin Short portrays a 90 year old priest, and a 10 year old holy terror of a child who will do anything he can (and what he can do is formidable) to get to Dinosaur World to fulfill his dream.
I found this work amusing. I was highly entertained by Clifford's constant, non-stop, one track obsession and his total lack of that little voice which tells most people that their inappropriate actions are a BAD idea! It makes me thankful I'm not raising children at this point in my life; that part of my life is done, so I can appreciate the humor herein.
I do not understand why this work is generally despised, other than Clifford IS a holy terror. He is the epitome of the Demon Seed. But the work is endearingly quirky, amusing, and entertaining.
I liked it and own it. It rates a 7.8/10 from...

In this funny, but slightly crude film, Martin Short uses his young face and tricky camera angles, I think, to play the part of a ten year old boy. What is really funny is that he is obviously not a ten year old boy, yet he is perfectly capable of the role due to his bizarre sense of humour. This film showed on a television station that normally shows Disney B movies. Movies released in the 90's are not really my thing, but this one was really cute! There were a few offensive words and crude moments ( such as one reference to a "secret space" and other jokes about pedophiles ) but if these go in one ear and out the other, than it won't be a problem for you. Martin Short has the most hilarious face, capable of contorting to give a weird, childish look that creeps out even the on screen characters. The opening and closing shots reminded me of "Boy's Town" and gives us a chance to see Martin Short under layers of latex for his role as an elderly priest.
All in all, not a bad effort.

- TriviaMartin Short's co-stars are usually standing on boxes and next to slightly oversize props.
- ErroresTowards the beginning of the movie, Father Clifford is standing in front of a brick wall when Roger jumps from a window and lands on Clifford. Clifford goes down, but the camera does not move. Right before Clifford and Roger get up, the shadows on the brick wall instantly shift, revealing that scene was edited together from multiple takes.
- Versiones alternativasWhen aired on Comedy Central and later on the Disney Channel, five scenes deleted from the final cut are restored and also to edit out questionable content. The first one has Clifford and his parents forced off the plane when Clifford makes it land in Los Angeles. The second one has Clifford in the airport pretending to be a poor, deaf boy and many passerby's are seen donating gifts to him. The third one occurs when Clifford and Martin exit Sarah's house and he tells Clifford that Sneakers, the dog that he stole from the airport, ran away, much to Clifford's sadness. The fourth one occurs after the mini-mart incident, when Sarah and Mr. Ellis are in his private plane overlooking a possible site for a new daycare center. The fifth and final deleted scene shows Clifford sleeping over at Sarah's house, following Martin's arrest, offering her his great grandmother's wedding ring.
