This sitcom about a television executive was, rather curiously, a revival of an unsuccessful series of nearly thirty years earlier, which had starred Lionel Jeffries. This 1959 show had been regarded by ITV as such a disaster that it had been shelved for a full five years before being aired, and might never been televised at all had not both Jeffries and director Richard Lester gone on, in the interim half-decade, to major success in the cinema. However, this 1980s revival of the idea, considerably revised and with an entirely new cast, was quite popular and ran for two series.
