I was born in 1989, and I watched this show growing up. It was amazingly realistic and portrays Islanders exactly how they were. I was surprised that people from the United States and all over the world watched Road to Avonlea. When I was young, I thought it was just local.
I loved the characters in the show, and how the buildings and houses reminded me of where I lived. In fact, the white church shown in the theme song is 200 metres from my house. It's part of a community called Orwell, where I live. Actually it's a historic village called Orwell Corner Historic Village, it has been there since the 1800's. I actually worked as a tour guide there last summer, and cleaned and polished that church many times. Of course most of the sets are in Ontario but lot's of background scenery and stock footage is actually from here.
Oh yeah, and for those who don't know this Avonlea is a made up place based on a real place in PEI called Cavendish. Cavendish is a tourist spot and has an attraction called Avonlea village which is based upon Lucy Maud's Avonlea. ^.^ So come visit us in PEI!! I'll probably be working at Orwell Corner this summer so stop by and say hi if you come.

I have seen about three-fourths of the "Road to Avonlea" series on the Kermit Channel(somewhat related to the Oddyssey network in the U.S.). Now I have to finish watching it all. It's worth my time. The story is a bit slow but it did grow on me. When I feel unhappy and insecure, I always think of Avonlea and the adventures of its children and of its people. In that way, I can easily send myself off to dreamland(Avonlea is fictitious, isn't it?). When I'd like to think of friendship and romance, I think of Gus Pike and Felicity King. They're my favorite characters on the show. And it will always remain that way. "Road to Avonlea" has become a classic to me and I think it deserves to be shown on T.V. over and over again.
I think "Road to Avonlea is the Best tv show ever! It is very clean and the actors in it are the best. Zachary Bennett is my favorite actor and I think that he is very cute too! I am a Christian and I think that this is a wonderful family show. There are not very many shows today that are clean, so I'm glad that I have this show to watch with my family.

This is quite simply the best show that I ever watched. I watched it when I was as young as the child actors on the show and watching it now reminds of the joy and innocence of those times. I am so glad to have watched this show. Pure magic! The era its set in and the innocence of all the characters is really appealing. Unlike today's vulgar crap thrown into every show. The show is loosely based on novels by L.M. Montgomery, the 'avonlea' titles. Some of the original characters in the book are included in the show, but most of the lead characters are new. While the books were about a poor orphan girl who's reluctantly adopted and how she adds meaning and joy into people's lives, the show is about a rich orphan girl with a lot of money, who's living with her aunt. The settings are simply brilliant, as are the plots and the acting. The best gift you can give to your kids.
Road to Avonlea was an excellent family show. It always left you wondering what was going to happen next, especially on the 2 part episodes, while watching and then says "To be continued" it makes you want to throw the television across the room. I would recommend it for anyone.
