Screambox has revealed the new films that are joining the Bloody Disgusting-powered horror streaming service in August 2025.

In anticipation of The Toxic Avenger reboot hitting theaters on August 29, Lloyd Kaufman‘s original The Toxic Avenger, its three sequels, and the “Toxic Crusaders” cartoon are coming to Screambox on August 15.

They’ll be joined by 50 more Troma cult classics, including Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., Surf Nazis Must Die, Tromeo and Juliet, Terror Firmer, and Cannibal! The Musical.

Other highlights include William Lustig‘s slasher Maniac Cop starring Tom Atkins and Bruce Campbell, Takashi Miike‘s sadomasochistic gorefest Ichi the Killer, Frank Henenlotter‘s irreverent horror-comedy Frankenhooker, ’80s heavy metal horror Black Roses, and horror web series “Serial” about two killers destined to collide.

You may have seen The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III before, but never like this.

The sequels were originally written and shot as one movie, but directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz ended up with so much footage that they broke it up into two installments.

36 years later, the initial vision for the sequel has been reconstructed under its original title, Mr. Melvin. Watch the exclusive trailer below.

The 127-minute movie will premiere as part of Troma-Thon 2025 at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, Pa on July 18-19, followed by a screening at Popcorn Frights Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Fl on August 8.

The filmmakers gave Andrew L. Miller, Kaufman’s assistant, and Adam Peltier, star of Troma’s upcoming film The Power of Positive Murder, their blessing to edit the two sequels together from the recently unearthed original script.

Fighting crime doesn’t pay, but selling out does in Mr. Melvin, a new reconstruction of The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III based on the original script.

As most Troma fans know, The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III were originally written and shot as one movie, but directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz ended up with so much footage that they broke it up into two installments.

36 years years later, the filmmakers’ initial vision for the sequel has been reconstructed under its original title, Mr. Melvin.

Andrew L. Miller, Kaufman’s assistant, and Adam Peltier, star of Troma’s upcoming film The Power of Positive Murder, unearthed the original script and edited footage from the two films together as originally intended.

Toxie actor Ron Fazio provided some new voiceover for Mr. Melvin. He stars alongside Phoebe Legere, John Altamura, Rick Collins, John Altamura, Rikiya Yasuoka, and Lisa Gaye.

While we wait for Macon Blair’s upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger, Troma has announced today that the original movie’s brand new restoration is now available to stream.

You’ll find it only on Troma’s dedicated streaming service, Troma Now.

“This Toxic Avenger in 4K is historic! It has already played to full houses throughout the Alamo Drafthouse circuit and others,” says Troma Prez, Lloyd Kaufman. “Toxie has a new life. And Michael Herz and I are very proud of his mopping up on Troma-Now!”

Troma Entertainment, the beloved independent film distributor and production house, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – and as part of the celebration, they’re bringing their iconic Toxic Avenger franchise to 4K in an eight disc “Tox Box” collection! The original Rabid Grannies was shot in Belgium in 1988 and became one of the three best sold Belgian films ever. Ravenshore is the long awaited sequel and the story begins 30 years later. While Troma Entertainment continues to offer thought-provoking new films, fervent fans of the creative company no doubt always keep an eye out for Blu-ray releases of cherished Troma movies from back in the day. Troma’s upcoming high-definition slate should more than please its loyal legion of viewers, as it’s been revealed that this spring they will release Blu-rays of three cult films from the late ’80s/early ’90s.

According to Blu-ray.com, the Class Of Nuke ‘Em High II: Subhumanoid Meltdown (1991) and The Toxic Avenger: Part II (1989) Blu-rays will come out on April 14th, while Rabid Grannies is set to hit shelves on March 10th.

With the popularity of V/H/S and the quick distribution deal for sequel S-v/H/S at Sundance, it seems like the VHS format may be having a bit of a renaissance. Cover art is key to the allure of the VHS tape – clearly no one is buying them for their box-filling bulkiness – and almost everyone of a certain age has a story about falling in love with a VHS box only to take it home and find out the movie inside was even better.

I had two obsessions at the video store: One was Frank Henenlotter’s Frankenhooker, which featured a button on the box that, when pushed, played the line “Wanna date?” over and over. Rabid Grannies, which boasted a picture of two hungry-looking zombie grandmothers and the tagline, “They just love their grandchildren... well done!” was the other. To my thirteen-year-old mind that was the funniest idea ever.

Following on from his book of the same name, Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman now has this 2 Disc boxset of Produce Your Own Damn Movie! This would seemingly be sound advice, especially coming from the man that has been producing independent movies, such as The Toxic Avenger and Rabid Grannies, for well over 35 years. You can buy the DVD at the Troma Store for the very reasonable price of $14.95.

This box set is the perfect follow-up to Kaufman’s best selling text book from Elsevier/Focal Press of the same name. When it comes to producing successful independent movies, no one speaks with more authority than Lloyd Kaufman creator of The Toxic Avenger and founder of the longest-running independent film studio, Troma Entertainment.

Toxie, the affectionately named mop-wielding character of The Toxic Avenger series from the 1980s will be severely cleaning up his act as Akiva Goldsman and others take on the task of producing a remake of the film franchise that will be suitable for family viewing.

The original film centred on Melvin, a wimpy mop boy at a gym who is bullied by the more muscular members, leading him to escape out a window and fall into a vat of toxic waste. The radioactive swill transforms him into a giant Hulk-like superhero who gets his revenge on the bullies and wreaks havoc on polluters in New Jersey. The anti-hero went on to star in a number of schlocky, gory tales including Surf Nazis Must Dieie, Rabid Grannies and Stuff Stephanie In The Incinerator, but for this new iteration he will become a green superhero for these environmentally conscious times.
