First and foremost "Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck" must be considered nothing more than a vanity project for David Keith, who both stars and directs. His stereotyped "big white hunter" act is a challenge to watch. What is not difficult to watch is naked "Playmate Bunny", Kathy Shower, getting lubed and oiled by some native women. Otherwise, the story is familiar, the jungle scenery acceptable, and Keith's seaplane scenes at least help to maintain interest. Whoever thought up the idea that somehow you can mix comedy with decapitations and rape, in what was obviously not intended as dark humor, should have been clued they had a concept that wasn't fully developed. - MERK

Although this is generally a cheesy jungle-adventure movie, it does have some highlights - the settings are quite beautiful, and the pacing of the adventure is good. You won't be bored watching it.
Keith is as breezy as possible playing the eponymous lead, an unabashedly drunk jungle guide shanghai'd into escorting rich boy Van Hoffman and his gorgeous wife Shower on a hunting expedition in cannibal country. He never takes things seriously . Shower is there as decoration and Keith makes extensive use of her - she doesn't really have to act much. She's not the only female to show off her body and the prurient aspects of the film make it about halfway to a T/A picture.
There's nothing in this film that would draw specific attention to it, or away from it. Produced to be shlock, it succeeds without too much fuss. A good 2 AM cable programmer.

In the unlikely case that some aspiring directors are reading these comments, I'd like to offer some advice (free of charge!), from a viewer's perspective. If you want to make a serious exotic adventure film, do it. If you want to make a spoof of exotic adventure films, go ahead. DO NOT try to make both at the same time, it doesn't work. For example, having a goofy "comic relief" character killed and beheaded and following it up with a monkey shaking a tree and dropping a coconut on a cannibal's head just makes you look like you had NO IDEA what kind of movie you wanted to make. This one is boring, meandering, cheap, racist....you get the picture. A couple of smart moments and a few glimpses of nudity from Kathy Shower (way too prissy here) are hardly worth your trouble. There is a reason everyone has forgotten about this film's existence. (*1/2)

It's "Indiana Jones" meets "Bikini Car Wash Company," or something like that. Doesn't do either well enough to recommend -- except for a single memorable scene in which Shower is rubbed down by the natives (a la Bo Derek in her Tarzan bomb) and then "taken" by the chief.

Perhaps with an animate group of people with enough liquor in them to make anything amusing, this movie could qualify as "enertaining" but as a movie itself..... it is first and foremost a vanity project for the director/ "star" in that he does his best to make himself look and act cool. Think kurt russell if kurt russell had never met another human being. It is no mean feat as the director has about as much on screen personality as a piece of furniture. This is obviously a skin flick rip-off of indiana jones and the temple of doom, but minus even a hint of charisma or any semblance of trying to balance the tone. As noted elsewhere it can go from 4th grade level of humor to gore in a about two minutes. Would not recommend.

This Film is Good Clean Campy Fun, All The Actors give it their All. Plus Death and an Oil Massage Where Can You go Wrong. Kathy Shower Playmate of the Year, Directed By David Keith. Just Don't Loose Your Head. It's A great Film for the Parents, When the Kids are Asleep.
Which is Why I'm giving The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck My TM C for Campy. It's a Film you Need to see at least Once in your Life, So Put it on The Bucket List.

Superbad INDIANA JONE/ROMANCING THE STONE knockoff with David Keith (not to be confused with Keith David from THEY LIVE and THE THING) as adventurer Buck Malone, drunkenly taking a wealthy married couple on a safari when he begins to suspect there is more to their plans than just bagging a white tiger. Kathy Shower plays the wife, who's one of those actresses who I saw on VHS box covers of trashy erotic movies (such as EROTIC BOUNDARIES, LOVE STREET, MARRIED PEOPLE, or SINGLE SEX II: FOR BETTER OR WORSE) all the time in my video store clerk days, but I never actually saw any of them (except for COMMANDO SQUAD and one called DOUBLE EXPOSURE where she played Mudwrestler #1). But back to this film, it is just awful, and if you're Jonesing for some Jonesploitation, stick with ROMANCING THE STONE or THE MUMMY for budget knockoffs, or if you want some good budget knockoffs, watch KING SOLOMON'S MINES or THE PERILS OF GWENDOLINE IN THE LAND OF THE YIK YAK.

A rich Caucasian couple vacationing in Borneo (which looks suspiciously like Sri Lanka) hires a famous hunter to take them up a river where dangerous headhunters dwell.
Shot in 1987 and released in 1988, "The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck" is a 'B' imitation of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" along the lines of "King Solomon's Mines" (1985) and "Firewalker." Regrettably, it's easily the least of these. It starts off entertaining enough, but the second half devolves into dull activities in the deep jungle, which the creators try to spice up with nudity and a rape sequence involving the character played by statuesque blonde Kathy Shower. There's also a beheading scene reminiscent of "Apocalypse Now."
Shower is effective enough, yet comes across as a low budget version of Kate Capshaw in "Temple of Doom." It's brunette Tiziana Stella as Che who's the real highlight in the feminine department; with a nod to Patricia Zanetti as Monique. Unfortunately, both are absent after the first act.
The plot was ripped off from Louis L'Amour's "The Diamond of Jeru," which was made into a 'B' movie in 2001 with Billy Zane, Keith Carradine and Paris Jefferson. That one's not flip like this juvenile flick, but takes the material seriously and has mature themes. I don't mind the 'fun' spirit of this movie; it's just that it loses its mojo after the first half. Still, the jungle locations are great and Keith is surprisingly good in the titular role.
It runs 1 hour, 30 minutes, and was shot in Sri Lanka.

Okay, so "The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck" never won any awards and it probably never will do and, sure, it is PURE CHEESE. But it's a good kind of cheese, you know, like when you order a pepperoni pie with extra mozerella!
You have to watch this film with a pizza-frame-of-mind, 'cause it's that kind of movie. This is a story about a drunken ne'erdowell "guide" hired to lead a yuppy couple through the jungle on a mysterious quest. Along the way, they meet various pseudo-jungle-type inhabitants - many of them stereo-typical canibals and headhunters - but before you judge, just take note of the first fight scene. It's two hairy white guys dressed like they just exited a 1930's adventure film. Oh, and Tennessee Buck has magic amulet. Just sayin.
I think it was intended to be campy. I hope so, 'cause it is even if it wasn't.
Still, that's what makes this movie so much fun - that and David Keith playing a tough guy. I mean, the dude is like a big teddy bear!
So, pop some corn, grab a slice and watch ('cause this movie is corny and cheesy)!!!

this was an unexpected delight, as a well crafted "b movie" with a delicious playmate, classic jungle adventure plot an a sense of humor in spite of thin finances and straight to video release. oiling Kathy before her confrontation with her jungle natives fate is yummy an extended with the director knowing what will entertain his audience. The natives are near nude and seem quite authentic, an used to the jungle and nudity. Shot on an Indian ocean island, the director used the hired natives to great advantage. I've loved jungle movies since the first Tarzan i saw, and this is not a cheap Ramar of the jungle quickie, but something for the 2nd on a twin bill in the fifties. "tarzan and his mate" had beautiful nudity, as a loinclothed Maureen O'sullivan dressed for her mate and a hot steamy jungle, which produced a very modern sexual content to a "black white oldie". The hayes office was not amused an it was heavily censored. But i digress, an highly recommended a very good "b movie" with humor, sexy actors, and an interesting plot.

I hadn't heard of this one before and having just finished it I can see why. It's a cheapo INDIANA JONES-style jungle adventure, shot on location in Sri Lanka by David Keith, who also takes the centre role as a square-jawed adventurer guiding a party of travellers through some hostile locations. I wasn't quite sure what to make of this tongue-in-cheek production other than to say it feels like a homage to those old jungle flicks of the 1930s, except the racial aspects of the plot are even queasier come the 1980s. The film has a light, anything goes feel to it, with occasionally histrionic acting, weak characters and rather repetitive incident, I'm not surprised it sank without trace.

When will this movie be released on DVD? With all the older movies being re-released on DVD, you would think they would get around to it sooner or later. I know that it is not much more than a cheap Indiana Jones knock off, but it did have it's highlights, and was at least as good as some of the crap Hollywood has been releasing lately. Besides, it doesn't look like Spielberg and Lucas are having any luck getting Indiana Jones 4 off the ground any time soon. It won't be long before Ford is too old to be willing to put the fedora on again, anyway. David Kieth is no real substitute, but Tennessee Buck does have a tendency to get your attention. Perhaps my interest in the film isn't exactly on the high road, but when did that ever stop a movie from being released? It was a nice change of pace to see a movie that didn't try to offend, but didn't really care if it did.

David Keith has Directed and played in a lot of his own films. As he did both in this Movie.
I think it was a great film. It keeps you going you never know what's coming next. Kathy Shower plays a big city wife in the jungle for her first time and has to learn that she can't dress and act like she's still in the city. Her Husband ends up getting killed and she gets kidnaped and raped by the jungle people. So David Keith has to come in and save the day.
A very good film, but keep the kids away from this one.

A perfect example of 1980's culture with half naked bodies and some sex but presented more as the affirmation of life, strength and fitness, not the sleazy Payboyesque manner. 'Indiana' Buck does not pretend to be the professor and instead of archaeology focuses on the live matters and so here is stunning Kathy Shower with her immortal beauty that once had inspired Ancient Greeks and Romans to create the sculptures of their Goddesses. But my attention has been taken by Italian/Latino charm of Tiziana Stella. Looking at her and other actresses from the era, Paloma Prati, Sabrina Salerno,or Rachel Ticotin I feel really sad. While Arnold or Sylvester were succeeded by Rock or John Cena the female actresses.. oh well..

If this movie was Spielberg would have had more. Since these strontium on the assumption that a film must be beautiful to be directed by big names like Spielberg, Lucas, Jackson, Cameron. .. All these assessments are wrong you understand the level of bad opinion of this site. Only films for intellectuals can be saved. This film was produced with many dollars and the optimal use of special effects make the place as among the best science fiction film Americans. Finitela of using double standards when judged as a movie, try to be objective because they give 3.8 a film of its kind and reward a crap how terrible sin city with 8.2 is really a 'offense. you are full of prejudices, in some ways this film is more teerminator terminator salvation. Vote 10
