All the episodes were 100 minutes long, shown as two 50-minute parts on consecutive weeks.
Peter Davison (Albert Campion) and Andrew Burt (Inspector Stanislaus Oates) had both previously appeared in the BBC's Miss Marple series - Davison in A Pocketful of Rye (2) (1985), Burt in Miss Marple: 4.50 from Paddington (1987).
In an interview about the series, Peter Davison said he considered Margery Allingham a better writer than Agatha Christie.
