Thikana

This is one of my favorite Anil Kapoor movies and one in which he ones again proves why he is search a great actor. He really gets into the skin of his character and gives a performance of a lifetime. A must see for any Anil Kapoor fan... Also excellent performance by the great Smita Patil and good acting by Suresh Oberoi and others.

The film has a great combination of talent both with acting and film making. With Mahesh Bhatt at the helm and some of the best known Hindi actors and supporting cast. Mahesh Bhatt is easily one of the most brilliant directors in the drama genre in the Hindi film industry, a fact which he keeps proving with movies such as Arth, Daddy, Sadak, Zakhm, Najaayaz and so many more.

A 9/10.

Mahesh Bhatt is an iconic creator. Considering the time of 80s, I would consider the subject and treatment of Thikana as superb.... I watched this movie when I was around 14 yrs old. One of the scene where Anil Kapoor confronts Suresh Oberoi blew my mind. That scene and Oberoi's reply remains inside me till today. It very well explains the reason for the state of corruption and power play in our society.

Watch this movie if you ever get a chance....

And now as a movie buff, when I started to think of best on Anil's scenes, here is my top 3 list (Thikana is one of them): 1) Amrish Puri and Anil Kapior in Viraasat. The scene were Amrish ji is requesting Anit to not go and get the train ticket cancelled. "Beta ek din hi ruk jao".... If I make the list of all of my fav bollywood scene, this will surely makes in top 10.

2) Anil kapoor and Jackie in Parinda: Anil confronts Jackie. " Uss samay main chota tha"... To be honest Jackie steels the limelight in the scene.

3) Anil Kapoor And Suresh Oberoi in nThikana. As I mentioned above.. Watch it to feel it.

Indian film industry. Mahesh Bhatt's direction is mind blowing and the script is one of the best I have seen! After every few reels, it gives you a twist that makes you start pondering!

Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Suresh Oberoi, Rohini Hattangadi are all simply superb! Definitely in Mahesh Bhatt's top 3 movies!

When you notice a film involving names like Smita Patil, Rohini Hattangadi, Anil Kapoor, Amrita Singh and Mahesh Bhatt, you know you must see the film. And the actors don't disappoint, they are very good. But the film as a film is very difficult to understand. Mahesh Bhatt's direction is good, but the film suffers from poor cinematography and a very complicated and incoherent script. The film has some nice songs, and the acting is good. Anil Kapoor was very decent, though he sometimes tends to overact. The always-to-be-remembered Smita Patil, was marvelous as always. Even if she had wanted to, she couldn't have been less than g-r-e-a-t. Sadly enough, the film got released post her tragic death. Rohini is, again, as always - superb. Such a fantastic and natural actress. She portrays the sharp, peppered, witty and suffering mother very well. Amrita Singh supports well. Like most of Mahesh Bhatt's 1980s films, Thikana is realistic, quite urban and somewhat dark, but it does not work as much as his other films of the decade. Maybe it's a film that should be watched twice in order to be understood. But I just found myself surprisingly unimpressed at the end of the show.
