One of the guests at the party can briefly be seen dressed as Dr. Frank 'n' Furter, the same character that Tim Curry played in El show de terror de Rocky (1975).
Originally conceived in the late 1970s as a feature film with Richard Beckinsale in the Tim Curry role. Beckinsale's death in 1980 put the project on hiatus for a number of years until it was rewritten and recast, and made for the small screen.
The original version of the script was written in 1978/79 as a vehicle for Richard Beckinsale to play the lead role and EMI's film production arm would finance and release it, with production due to start in summer 1979 and released the following year. The unexpected death of Beckinsale in March 1979 threw the whole project into development hell. In 1984 EMI Film Productions were financially struggling after several films they produced or released flopped and they were looking to pull out of the movie market. It was at this point that they sold the production rights for this script to London Weekend Television.
