When three parapsychologists—Doctors Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis)—are fired from their positions at New York's Columbia University, they decide to set up shop together and become "ghostbusters" dedicated to trapping ghosts and other nasty spirits.
