This is the second installment of Nobuhiko Ôbayashi's Onomichi Trilogy, after Tenkôsei (1982) and before Sabishinbô (1985). This movies, made in the city of Onomichi, where the director was born, share a nostalgic, warm mood and all of them are about young people leading with important problems on their lives, as love, family, friendship and learn to grow.
Tomoyo Harada said in an interview the shooting was very strange because after finish one scene she had to repeat it singing. This collage of musical scenes was used as a music video for the credits.
Tomoyo Harada was a Nagasaki-born 14 year old student who dreamed about becoming a popular movie actress, but she just got some roles for TV series. After play the leading role on the TV versions of Nerawareta gakuen (1981) and Sêrâ-fuku to kikanjû (1981) and fail in many auditions she considered leaving the acting career forever.
