Pink Floyd: The Wall

Editar
  • Teacher: If ya don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding! How can ya have any pudding if ya don't eat ya meat?
  • Teacher: What have we here, laddie? Mysterious scribblings? A secret code? No! Poems, no less! Poems, everybody!
  • [classmates laughs]
  • Teacher: The laddie reckons himself a poet!
  • [reads poem from Pink's little black book]
  • Teacher: "Money, get back / I'm all right, Jack / Keep your hands off my stack / New car / Caviar / Four-star daydream / Think I'll buy me a football team."
  • [slams the black book onto Pink's desk]
  • Teacher: Absolute rubbish, laddie.
  • [whacks him with a ruler, growls at Pink]
  • Teacher: Get on with your work.
  • Judge Arse: [disgusted, singing] The evidence before the court is incontrovertible, there's no need for the jury to retire! In all my years of judging, I have never heard before some one more deserving of the full penalty of law! The way you made them suffer, your exquisite wife and mother, fills me with the urge to *defecate*! Since, my friend, you have revealed your deepest fear, I sentence you to be exposed before your peers. TEAR DOWN THE WALL!
  • Rock and Roll Manager: [discovers the hotel room trashed, and Pink unconscious] Fuck me! He's gone completely around the bleedin' twist!
  • [to Pink]
  • Rock and Roll Manager: You vicious bastard, you never did like me, did you?
  • [continues to harangue Pink as the medical team attempts to revive him]
  • Rock and Roll Manager: The boy's an asthmatic.
  • Hotel Manager: [outraged] Asthmatic?
  • Rock and Roll Manager: He's an artist!
  • [stuffs cash into hotel manager's pockets, then begins slapping Pink]
  • Rock and Roll Manager: He's coming around! There, you see! How do you feel?
  • [directs roadies as they dress the barely-conscious Pink and drag him out of the hotel room]
  • Pink: [singing] Are there any queers in the audience tonight? Get 'em up against the wall! That one in the spotlight, he don't look right! Get him up against the wall! And that one looks Jewish... and that one's a coon! Who let all this riff raff into the room? That one's smoking a joint! And that one's got spots! If I had my way, I'd have all of you shot!
  • [Groupie is amazed at Pink's room, while Pink watches TV, ignoring her]
  • Groupie: Oh my God... what a fabulous room. Are all these your guitars?
  • [touches guitars]
  • Groupie: God, this place is bigger than our whole apartment.
  • [pause]
  • Groupie: You like the tube, huh? Can I get a drink of water? Can I get YOU a drink of water?
  • [goes into the bathroom]
  • Groupie: Oh, wow! Look at this tub? Wanna take a bath?
  • [comes back out]
  • Groupie: What are you watching? Hello?
  • [Her voice begins echoing and fading]
  • Groupie: Hey, are you feeling okay?
  • Pink: [singing] Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there?
  • Pink: [singing] We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No dark sarcasm in the classroom. Teacher, leave them kids alone. Hey, teachers, leave them kids alone! All in all, it's just another brick in the wall. All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.
  • Mother: [singing] Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry / Mother's gonna make all of your nightmares come true / Mother's gonna put all of her fears into you / Mother's gonna keep you right here under her wing / She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing / Mama will keep baby cozy and warm / Ooooh babe, ooooh babe, oooooh babe / Of course Mama's gonna help build the wall.
  • Pink: [singing] Daddy's flown across the ocean. Leaving just a memory. A snapshot in the family album. Daddy, what else did you leave for me? Daddy, what'd ya leave behind for me? All in all, it was just a brick in the wall. All in all, it was all just bricks in the wall.
  • Pink: [singing] There is no pain you are receding. A distant ship, smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown, the dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb.
  • Prosecutor: [singing] Good morning, Worm, Your Honor! / The crown will testify that the prisoner who stands before you / Was caught red-handed showing feelings / Showing feelings of an almost human nature / This will not do.
  • Pink: Stop! I wanna go home, take off this uniform, and leave the show. I'm waiting in this cell because I have to know... have I been guilty all this time?
  • Pink: [singing] I don't need no arms around me. And I don't need no drugs to calm me. I have seen the writing on the wall. Don't think I need anything at all. No! Don't think I'll need anything at all. All at all, it was all just bricks in the wall. All in all, you were all just bricks in the wall.
  • Pink: [singing] There is no pain you are receding. A distant ship, smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child, I had a fever. My head felt just like two balloons. Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain. You would not understand this is not how I am. I have become comfortably numb.
  • [Pink is playing the piano, ignoring his wife]
  • Pink's Wife: [muffled, slowly growing more distinct] Hello? Hello? Is there anybody in there?
  • [Pink looks up, finally]
  • Pink's Wife: Do you remember me? I'm the one from the registry office.
  • [first lines]
  • Pink: [singing] So ya, thought ya might like to, go to the show. To feel the warm thrill of confusing that space cadet glow. Tell me is something eluding you sunshine? Is this not what you expected to see? If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes, you'll just have to claw your way through this disguise!
  • Pink: [singing] It was just before dawn one miserable morning in black '44. When the forward commander was told to sit tight, when he asked that his men be withdrawn. And the generals gave thanks as the other ranks held back the enemy tanks for a while. And the Anzio bridgehead was held for the price of a few hundred ordinary lives.
  • Teacher: [shouts to the students marching] Wrong! Do it again!
  • Pink: [speaking and screaming into megaphone] The worms will convince outside Brixton Bud Station will be moving along at about twelve o' clock down Stockwell road, and then point will start heading Abbots road and walk calmly with resistance, leaving twelve minutes to three will be moving along Lambeth road towards Vauxhall Bridge. Now when we get to the other side of Vauxhall Bridge where in the Westminster brought area it's quite possible we may encounter some Jew boys all the way from four and five and take them back by the way we go. And they came Midds Abbots and we saw them killed! Million of gay people screaming murder, murder came all around and shoot! Remember to make it to high clock corner or all of you are killed! Were in the door! Now close the door, close the damn door! The door! The door! The door!
  • Wife: [singing] You little shit, you're in it now I hope they throw away the key. You should have talked to me more often than did, but no! You had to go your own way, have you broken any homes up lately? Just five minutes, Worm, Your Honor, him and me, alone.
  • Pink: [singing] Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb? Mother, do you think they'll like the song? Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls? Mother, should I build the wall?
  • Pink: [in his fascist persona] I got some bad news for you, sunshine. Pink isn't well. He's, uh, back at the hotel. And they sent us along as a surrogate band. Now tonight, we're gonna find out where you fans really stand!
  • Lover: [sleeping in bed with Mrs. Floyd, the phone rings, he answers] Hello?
  • Telephone Operator: Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd. Will you accept the charge from the United States? I wonder why he hung up. Is there supposed to be someone else there besides your wife, sir, to answer?
  • Lover: [operator calls back, he answers the phone again] Hello?
  • Telephone Operator: This is United States calling. Are we reaching... See, he keeps hanging up, and it's a man answering.
  • Pink: [singing quitely to himself with his poems in a bathroom stall] Do you remember me? The way it used to be? Do you think we should have been closer? Put out my hand, just to touch your soft hair. To make sure in the darkness, that you were still there. And I have to admit, I was just a little afraid. Of the ones living under the dirty old knife. And the ones who were pointed with guns to their backs.
  • Playground Father: [pushing kids on roundabout] Easy, be careful.
  • Playground Father: [little Pink tugs his coat] What?
  • Little Pink: Will you put me on that?
  • Playground Father: Well, where's your mum at?
  • Little Pink: She's gone to the shops.
  • Playground Father: Yes, all right.
  • Playground Father: [pushes little Pink and the other kids on the roundabout] How's that then enjoying it?
  • Playground Father: Ooh Wabba lovely lovely.
  • Playground Father: [little Pink follows him] What you again?
  • [shoos him away]
  • Playground Father: Off you go. Go on.
  • Playground Father: [little Pink still follows him much to the man's annoyance] What have I told you about this? What have I told you; your not mine. Now sling your hook. Go on, sling your hook.
  • [little Pink walks to a swing set by himself and sits down as he sees many children playing with their parents, and frowns]
  • Pink: [singing] It was dark all around. There was frost in the ground when the tigers broke free. And no one survived from the Royal Fusiliers Company Z. They were all left behind. Most of them dead, the rest of them dying. And that's how the High Command took my Daddy from me.
  • Pink: [singing] I got the obligatory Hendrix perm and the inevitable pinhole burns. All down the front of my favorite satin shirt. I've got nicotine stains on my fingers. I've got a silver spoon on a chain. I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains. I've got wild staring eyes. And I've got a strong urge to fly. But I've got nowhere to fly to.
  • Pink: [singing] I've got a little black book with my poems in. Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in. When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in. I got elastic bands keeping my shoes on. Got those swollen-hand blues. I've got 13 channels of shit on the T.V. to choose from. I've got electric light. And I've got second sight. I've got amazing powers of observation.
  • Pink: [singing] Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn? Remember how she said that we would meet again some sunny day? Vera, Vera, What has become of you? Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?
  • Pink: [singing] Would you like to see Britannia rule again, my friend. All you need to do is follow the worms...
  • Pink: [singing] Day after day, loves turns grey like the skin on a dying man. And night after night, we pretend it's all right. But I have grown older and you have grown colder. And nothing is very much fun any more.
  • Man on Station: Bring the boys back home. Bring the boys back home. Don't leave the children on there own no no.
  • Teacher: I always said he'd come to no good in the end, Your Honor. If they'd let me have my way, I could have flayed him into shape. But my hands were tied, the bleeding hearts and artists let him get away with murder. I hope you hammer him today.
  • Pink: [Pink is having a mental and physical breakdown, and is destroying his apartment]
  • [singing]
  • Pink: Run to the bedroom, in the suitcase on the left, you'll find my favourite axe. Don't look so frightened, this is just a passing phase. Just one of my bad days. Would you like to watch T.V.? Or get between the sheets? Or contemplate the silent freeway?Would you like something to eat? Would you like to learn to fly? Would you like to see me try?
  • [Pink leans out of his window dangerously]
  • Pink: Would you like to call the cops? Do you think it's time I stopped? Why are you running away?
  • Pink: [after Pink's breakdown in his concert] STOP!
  • Pink: [singing] I wanna' go home. Take off this uniform and leave the show... and I'm waiting in this cell, because I have to know, have I been guilty all this time?
  • Pink: Next time, fuckers!
