Hear No Evil

I taped this movie off TV thinking it was the Marlee Matlin film of the same name. When I discovered the mistake I went ahead and gave it a chance. After all, film buffs are always looking for that pleasant surprise to come out of nowhere.

Well, this isn't it. It's a B-team effort all the way that epitomizes the late 1970's TV crime movie, although it's from 1982. The best thing it has going for it is some San Francisco locales. Unless you can't get enough of the old 'Ironside' TV series or Quinn-Martin productions, it's safe to pass on this one.

An awful attempt at recreating the cliched cop shows of the 70's, Hear No Evil, was no doubt one of the inspirations for the spoof 'The Naked Gun'. Everything about the film is cliched, from the typical american hero lead role actor - agent Dragon, to the laughable biker gang bad guys. After Dragon is injured by a car bomb, he later wakes up to find that he has lost his hearing due to the accident. Mimi Rogers plays the psychiatrist who helps him get back to society after Dragon alienates himself from the outside world. Its a pity though, that Rogers doesn't actually say anything in the film, because her performance is the films only real plus point.

Ho-hum 80s made-for-TV biker flick, featuring Gil "Buck Rogers" Gerard as the Narc, a Russ Meyer "Supervixens" star (Raven De La Croix) as the Bay Riders's President's squeeze, and almost 100 actual SF bay area bikers as extras roaring around the now-demolished Embarcadero Freeway (including this reviewer), plus a few local celebrities, AND an incredibly amazing St. Bernard.

Good struggles to vanquish the truly evil, as evil wastes anybody, and even tries to...aw, I don't wanna do a "spioler". Ther's some violence, action & no sex, but Miss De La Croix fills out her, uh, wardrobe nicely, and there's a few faces you'll recognize as being typecast for this movie.

VERY loosely based on real-life incidents...and not much in the way of acting or plot. The locations are nice, the bikes rock (my long-gone black '81 Harley FXEF was the "double" for the bad guy's bike, hence my title for this. You can see me sleeping on it during the graveyard sequence...I was tired that day! What a great way to earn some extra summer dough, eh? If you like cheesy MC flicks, this's for you. It's no "Mask", and not nearly as ironically humorous as those 60s films.
