I must say that I am a bit partial of the movie "Five Days From Home", not for its acclaimed fame, but for its sentimental value to me. This movie was made on location in my hometown of Springhill, LA. Just for that I will give it 10 stars. Overall, I feel that 7 stars comes close to the actual rating for this film. I believe the last time I had an opportunity to see it was back around 1982 on TV, putting myself at the age of 10. Seeing it again will almost be like seeing it again for the first time. Anyone knowing any existence of this movie in any format feel free to drop a line or two. Would love to discuss it with you. Ricky Dorsey
i was the one who ran the movie five days from home staring George Peppard. I was there for the red carpet premiere in the Sping Theater in Springhill La.. I would love, love, love, to have a copy of this movie. i want to show my kids, who at the time were not even thoughts yet, this movie contains their papaw and several other people and places where they grew up. Please could any one help me find this movie or tell me where i could request it? If anyone would like to talk to me about the movie i would love to talk. I worked for Bess Eldridge who owned the Spring and Rancho theaters. I was the only female projectionist to ever run the shows. My family is all over Springhill and the surrounding areas.I would like to talk to anyone about home and all of its fun stories of the most interesting people in the world.
This movie was filmed close to my home town, so I was eager to see friends and acquaintances who made it to the big screen.
I saw the film in College Station Texas while attending fire school. Then caught it again on TV a few years later.
It's a great movie with timeless themes. I can't understand why it hasn't been released on DVD or at least video.
George Peppard was one of my favorite actors and he must have been a good sport to shoot the film in his wife's (at the time) home town.
One of my favorite scenes is when the lead goes into a Los Angles Bar and the interior is Springhill's own "Friendly Bar." A place that most kids from my hometown went to have their first beer.
I hope they release this to the home market some day.

I saw this movie when it came on TV and I would sure like to see it again but have not been able to find it. Can someone help me?
This is a sweet, unsophisticated, improbable little story about a prison inmate who breaks out to visit his critically injured son and, while on the lam, manages to win the heart of a gawky gal, a precious pup, and--by an act of unselfish heroism--an entire community! The plot is strained and simplistic, but, for those who can suspend the realization of harsh reality, it is supremely satisfying in its all-will-be-well premise. Even the delicious villainy of Neville Brand has a fairytale quality to the portrayal, and the traditionally good and traditionally bad somehow melt into the same treacle. Seemingly, only the irredeemably grumpy could complain over such a charmer--which CAN BE PURCHASED FROM robertsvideos.com!!
