In the German dubbed version, the main role is called Laura instead of Emanuelle, the name of the actress Laura Gemser. The German version was titled Nackt unter Kannibalen (Being naked with cannibals), also distancing this film from the Black Emanuelle series.

Many of the actors playing the cannibal natives were Filipino tourists picked up from the airport.

Many of the scenes were shot without proper permits.

End credits claim that the jungle scenes were shot in "Tapurucuara, Brazil", but they were actually filmed at a lake 56 miles southeast of Rome, Italy. The only footage of the Amazon basin was lifted from the Mondo film Notti porno nel mondo (1977).

Laura Gemser said later that the Emanuelle films were all the same, adding "It seemed like one long, long movie that didn't end. You know, it was always the same story, the same things happens." In every film, she played a journalist or a photographer sent out to find some drug criminals, and she always had to strip naked or have sex to get what she needed. She admitted she continued to do them because they paid well and she got to travel to exotic locations, which she loved. That made continuously taking her clothes off and kissing and rubbing against other people tolerable.
