A lot of people in The Morecambe and Wise Show were given nicknames-Andre Previn was Andre Preview or Privet, Vanessa Redgrave was Vanilla Redgrave, Des O'Connor was Desperate O'Connor.

Found episodes of the "lost" series were digitally restored and retro-renamed as "The Morecambe and Wise Show - The Lost Tapes". In fact for the Michael Aspel episode, he shot new material in 2018, showing the restoration process.

In the King Arthur sketch in (#2.1), Peter Cushing played King Arthur. 8 years later, Peter Cushing went on to play Grand Moff Tarkin in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope". The "Star Wars" films were influenced by myths, legends and fairy tales and the Legend of King Arthur was one of George Lucas's influences behind the "Star Wars" saga.

2 seemingly complete film copies of 2 "lost" episodes from series 1 were found, restored and broadcast in 2018. Previously, elements for 2 other episodes from series 1 had been discovered, but seemingly as they were an incomplete "unofficial" cutdown edit version, and/or too deteoriated to restore to an acceptable broadcast quality, they haven't received an official rebroadcast, although the cut-down episode, found by Tim Disney, was re-issued on an official BBC Morecambe and Wise Show dvd.

The 1968-1977 run contains the 1960s seasons that originally premiered on BBC Two, and then the 1970s shows that ran on BBC One, which primarily became the annual Christmas Specials. After this, they then moved back over to ITV, but this time to Thames Television (and including their one-off Euston Films "film", ).
