Le gendarme se marie, also known as the gendarme gets married, is the third installment in the Gendarme series, and it's just as entertaining as its predecessors. This time, we see Sergeant Cruchot, played by the inimitable Louis de Funès, navigating the complexities of romance while still trying to maintain order in the charming town of Saint-Tropez.
De Funès is once again in his element, blending slapstick humor with sharp wit and impeccable timing. The comedic situations are brilliantly executed, whether it's Cruchot's awkward attempts at courtship or the misunderstandings that arise from his interactions with his fellow gendarmes. The film is filled with funny and memorable moments that make it a true delight to watch.
The storyline is engaging, the characters are lovable, and the humor is consistent throughout. It's a perfect example of why Louis de Funès is considered one of the greatest comedic actors of his time. I give de gendarme op vrijersvoeten a 9/10 for its humor, charm, and the fantastic performance by de Funès.

I started rewatching all the "Gendarme" movies, classic comedies from when I was young and you didn't have much to chose from. People were looking forward to watch another movie with Louis de Funès, still by far the greatest French comedian ever. The man with a thousand faces, his gimmicks alone are worth the watch. Le Gendarme de St-Tropez, the first one was at this point the best one, followed up by a rather disappointing Le Gendarme à New York, to now be followed by Le Gendarme Se Marie which is slightly better. Claude Gensac makes her first appearance in the Gendarme movies. She will be in many other movies with Louis de Funès in the future. Michel Galabru is also a great watch, never failing to entertain. The movie isn't perfect but there are enough moments were I had the giggles, mostly when Galabru and/or de Funès are involved. In 1968 everybody from France and Belgium watched this movie, it's a classic French comedy everybody remembers.
The police that grows on you. Or maybe it is just De Funes and his ability to channel our inner ... well feelings. He isn't a perfect character/human, but he rages in such a funny way, we can relate. Also in this movie he gets a love interest, which elevates it.
Now how is a cop in love? And with a daughter nonetheless. And what does it mean when it comes to his work ethic and maybe jealous colleagues. This and much more can be found out here. With reoccuring characters (escpecially the one of faith) make this a compelling series entry

it is the word who defines each part of series. and nothing surprising. because the genius of Louis de Funes has great support of the best partners. France Rumilly is the memorable example as the eccentric nun saving the poor Cruchot. Claude Gensac is the perfect lady colonel and her charm , ambition and noble feelings for Cruchot reminds the flavor of French Medieval literature about the love . and, sure, Michel Galabru who is just perfect as the brave Gerber. but, out of any doubt, the lead character is Saint Tropez. not surprising.
A delicious movie, if you don't like to think too much when watching. Set in the beautiful background of late '60s St. Tropez, we see Louis de Funes and his companions doing all kinds of comic stuff in a slapstick kind of way. Don't forget the beautiful Genevieve Grad...True feelgood-movie style !!!
