The shot of the ship depicted as taking the men on a raid after Guadacanal is of the U.S.S. Walker (DD-517). She was one of 175 Fletcher-class destroyers built from 1941 to 1945. Commissioned in 1943 she saw service in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. She was sold to the Italian Navy in 1969 and scrapped in 1977.
