A fair few of the Speedy/Sylvester cartoons are entertaining, while Speedy has never been a favourite of mine I've always had a soft spot for Sylvester. Road to Andalay is not a great cartoon but it is a good one nonetheless, certainly better than pretty much all the Daffy/Speedy cartoons. The plot is very formulaic, if you are familiar with any of Sylvester and Speedy's other cartoons there is very little different here. The animation continues to be very limited, although the animation in early Speedy cartoons was reasonably good, the backgrounds are sparse and generic and the colours are flat rather than vibrant. The character designs are not too bad though. Speedy is far from annoying as he could be with Daffy but he's not particularly funny either. Bill Lava's music is lively and energetic and doesn't sound canned like it did in the Daffy/Speedy outings, it's not exceptional but it at least has character and enhances the action pretty well. The gags are standard but also quite entertaining and doesn't have a recycled vibe, Malcolm in the plane and the ending are the best parts, while the dialogue is suitably witty and the cartoon is reasonably well-paced. Sylvester is as cunning as ever, he takes the laughs well and you do feel sympathy for. He and Speedy are decent together(though Sylvester is much funnier here) and their relationship actually makes sense, unlike when Speedy was partnered with Daffy with a few exceptions. Malcolm steals the show from under both of them both, he is a hilarious character who is even more of a threat than Sylvester and the best bits are with him. His rapport with Sylvester is also far more inspired than Sylvester being with Speedy. Mel Blanc as ever provides stellar voice-work. On the whole, decent if not great cartoon that is worth seeing for Malcolm. 7/10 Bethany Cox

This is the best Speedy that doesn't have Slowpoke Rodriguez. I love this cartoon! Sylvester is a great foil for Speedy, Malcolm the Falcon is hilarious and the ending to the cartoon is perfect. Just an all-around great short. Well worth trying to see. Most highly recommended!
Despite some harsh opinions, I enjoy the Speedy Gonzales cartoons from the late 1960s. In this particular cartoon, Sylvester tries falconry to catch the fastest mouse in Mexico to prove his skills as a mouse-catcher. That's all I have to say about the story. Spoilers included. Again, despite my 9 out of 10 rating. This cartoon is one of my favorites.
I found it hilarious when Malcolm the falcon pecked Sylvester in the cartoon. Despite some fans criticizing the overall quality of the animation in this Looney Tunes cartoon, I personally enjoy the story it tells. So anyway, I thought this cartoon was another Speedy Gonzales favorite.

- TriviaThe title is a play on the Spanish word "andale", meaning "come on!" It's also a nod to the poem (and subsequent song and film) "Mandalay" by Rudyard Kipling. It includes the line, "On the road to Mandalay...where the flying fishes play... ". Mandalay is located in present-day Myanmar.
- Versiones alternativasSyndicated airings of this cartoon delete Malcolm Falcon accidentally tearing away a piece of Sylvester's scalp as he ascends to pursue Speedy.
