El Pequeño Huérfano

Nibbles, the little orphan mouse from "The Milky Waif" returns to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jerry, and he's very VERY hungry. It's up to Tom to navigate past the sleeping Tom and get Nibbles something to quench his unsatisfiable appetite. This animated short is one of the classics, but again censorship rears it's ugly head again under the guise of trying to be PC, as one of the gags of Tom getting burnt by a candle is cut out. Whenever they censor old cartoons like that it really gets my goat. This award winning cartoon (minus the one gag) can be found on disc one of the Spotlight collection DVD of "Tom & Jerry"

This short features Nibbles as Jerry's nephew. In some other cartoons he's referred to by other names and is generally SUPER-cutesy, but in this case the little white mouse is a little more entertaining and less cloying. This time, the white mouse has an amazing appetite--eating a whole orange at once! Well, after getting him to cough it up, Jerry takes Nibbles for some real food. And, being Thanksgiving, they dress up in costumes and raid the humans' feast. But, these cute little mice dressed as pilgrims are foiled by Tom who appears in Indian head dress. And, the rest of the cartoon consists of Tom trying to kill the little rodents. An exceptional cartoon with some good laughs and excellent animation.

Every year around the holiday of thanks I always view this classic 8 min "Tom and Jerry" short from 1948 called "The Little Orphan" as it is so nice and fun to watch! Set at the "Thanksgiving" holiday little cute baby mouse Nibbles visits Jerry in his little mouse hole hideaway and given to the brown mouse is a note, as Nibbles has come to eat for the "Thanksgiving" holiday, and he's hungry and Jerry is out of food, so it starts with sips of Tom's milk. Then the chase is on between the three and the cartoon is full of action as the pace is fast as plenty of food is set at the "Thanksgiving" dinner table. Tom plays out the part of an Indian so well as he's a pretty sharp knife thrower only both mouses outsmart by bounces off of Jello and taking cover in melted butter. The episode ends on a fun and cute note as Nibbles for sure has one huge appetite as the turkey is all his he's one stuffed little mouse! Overall fun likeable "Thanksgiving" episode one to watch every year before turkey day!

This cartoon, an Oscar winner (with good reason, as it's marvelous) features one of the early appearances of the little mouse named Nibbles primarily (although sometimes called Tuffy), he is rather cute and endearing. But I'd hate to pay his grocery bills! Nibbles became a very frequent and popular character and this was his second cartoon appearance, after The Milky Waif. Most highly recommended.

Good to see that "Jerry" has found a good use for the mousetrap as he sits reading his book, then his life changes when a knock at the door introduces him to an orphan called "Nibbles". Judging by it's speed about the place, it could be related to "Speedy", but it needs milk. Who's got the milk? "Tom", of course - and he isn't in a sharing vein. The usual shenanigans now ensue as "Jerry" tries to purloin some food for a charge who seems quite happy to eat just about anything! I didn't enjoy this quite so much as it's more about the two mice exploring the dinner table rather than the usual antics between the cat and the mouse, but it livens up for the last minute or so as big chief "Tom" meets his match - double time.
