On ABC, the entire scene with Elmer as a Pilgrim when a Pilgrim hat falls on his head and Bugs as an Indian when an Indian wig falls on his head was removed. Also, the scene with Bugs as a mobster (after a mobster's fedora lands on his head) was shortened to remove Bugs blowing cigar smoke in Elmer's face.
On CBS, as on ABC, the scene with Bugs as a mobster was shortened, once again to remove Bugs blowing cigar smoke in Elmer's face.
Pre-2001 airings of the short on Cartoon Network made the following edits: 1) The scenes with Elmer acting like General Douglas MacArthur after he dons a general's hat with a pipe attached to it by the brim and Bugs acting like a mobster when a mobster's hat lands on his head were both trimmed to remove the parts where the respective characters smoke the pipe and the cigar; and 2) The entire scene with Bugs as a game warden and accusing Elmer of shooting sergeants out of season, to which Elmer replies, after a Pilgrim hat lands on his head, that he is shooting turkeys for the first Thanksgiving dinner, followed by an Indian wig landing on Bugs' head and him behaving like a stereotypical Native American, was gone. Post-2001 airings of this cartoon, however, have shown the entire cartoon uncut.
The defunct WB network had all of the above scenes retained, but made some edits of its own: 1) Part of the opening scene where the narrator describes how a normal man's personality can be altered by means of different clothing (in this case, pirate regalia) was trimmed to render silent the man's line as a pirate: "Kill the women and children first!"; 2) Also muted was Elmer's line, "Come out now and wet me see the cowor of your spurting bwood!" and Bugs responding with, "My spurting blood?! Yipe!"; and 3) The entire scene with Bugs as a mobster bribing Elmer (as a policeman about to arrest mobster Bugs) with money, followed by a judge's wig landing on Bugs' head, causing him to act like a judge and accuse policeman Elmer of taking a bribe.
