A Great Christmas Cartoon

Now, I admitted in my 'Pueblo Pluto' entry that I'm not a huge fan of Pluto (or Chip and Dale for that matter), but this animated short is a classic. The visuals are just great, like when Chip and Dale first notice their home has been transformed into a beautiful Christmas tree. Pluto loses his sanity for a moment and chases these chipmunks all over the place, destroying everything. It's just like a classic `cat and mouse' cartoon. Mickey also fits in nicely with a supporting role, and it's also interesting to see him wearing something other than his trademark red shorts and yellow shoes.

Finally to make this cartoon even more memorable, lovable Disney characters, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald make a cameo and sing 'Deck the Halls,' only to be joined by Pluto's ear-screeching rendition. If I were a rich guy, I'd love to get the original animation cel of the final scene of what Chip and Dale do to Pluto. It's just a classic!

Violent Night

The Walt Disney cartoons have always been the best at creating atmosphere. The Looney Tunes shorts really lacked in this regard, as their backgrounds were usually somewhat more generic. So obviously the Xmas-themed Disney cartoons are perfect to get you in the mood. Pluto's Christmas Tree also has an even more vibrant detailed color pallet than usual.

This one has Mickey living in a mountain cabin with hyperactive Pluto. The go out one snowy night to find their Xmas tree. The tree that they just happen to pick is the one that is home to Chip and Dale.

Once inside Mickey's cabin the chipmunks play tricks on Pluto and taunt him, all while Mickey thinks it's just his imagination. In the end, Mickey decides to keep them because hey...it's Xmas.

It really puts you in the mood for Christmas.

When the episode begins, Mickey and Pluto are out in the woods chopping down a tree for Christmas. What they don't realize, however, is that this was Chip 'n Dale's home....and the pair stow away in the car in order to stay with their purloined home. Soon Pluto discovers the pair and spends most of the show chasing them about...with the chipmunks consistently getting the upper hand on him.

This is a cute and funny cartoon. And, like so many of the Mickey cartoons of the 1950s, Mickey is barely in the thing and it's really more a Pluto short. Well worth your time...and a Christmas favorite.

A hugely enjoyable short that is one of my favourites!

Pluto's Christmas Tree is perfect for 10 minutes for silly fun. It features the ever lovable chipmunks Chip and Dale, who happen to be in the Christmas tree that Mickey cuts down. Most of the short sees Pluto pursuing Chip and Dale, and the scene when he dives into the Christmas Tree after them and the bit before that made me laugh so much. The animation here is beautiful, I loved how they animated the inside of the Christmas tree. I also loved the incidental music, with the lovely choral arrangement of Deck The Halls at the beginning. Here you have your favourite characters, Mickey who is more of a minor role, compared to the increasingly silly but funny antics of Pluto and the chipmunks, who i consider the stars of the show. Minnie, Donald and Goofy even do a cameo at the end, and I will say I loved the ending, when the chipmunks put a sticker on Pluto's mouth saying "Do not open until next Xmas." Great vocals from Edward Brophy, James McDonald and Ducky Nash. A hugely enjoyable short, that I still watch at 17 years old. It just shows you're never old to still love and appreciate Disney. 10/10 Bethany Cox.

Pluto's Christmas Tree is a very enjoyable Walt Disney Christmas cartoon

Just went on YouTube and rediscovered this classic cartoon from Walt Disney starring Mickey Mouse, Pluto, and Chip 'n' Dale that I first saw on "The Wonderful World of Disney" on December 25, 1977 when the episode was the all-animated "From All of Us to All of You". In this one, Mickey and his dog live in a cabin near the tree that the chipmunks reside in. C 'n' D have some mischief with the yellow dog before master Mickey chops their tree down. Since the mouse is oblivious to the little rodents, Pluto risks trouble in pursuing them...Directed by usual Donald Duck helmer Jack Hannah, Pluto's Christmas Tree shows nice timing in many visual gags especially of the chase variety though they do pale somewhat compared to the kinds of pacing that abound in the Warner Bros. and M-G-M cartoons of this period. Still, it's enjoyable enough and well worth seeing for Walt Disney enthusiasts of all kinds.

A Christmas Caper With Chipmunks

A Walt Disney MICKEY MOUSE Cartoon.

PLUTO'S CHRISTMAS TREE arrives in Mickey's living room with Chip 'n' Dale still living in it...

This enjoyable little Holiday film matches the frustrated Pup against the cunning Chipmunks, with all the props & paraphernalia of Christmas Eve adding extra interest. Mickey has only a supporting role; Goofy, Donald & Minnie have a quick cameo at the end of the cartoon as carolers singing `Deck The Halls.'

Walt Disney (1901-1966) was always intrigued by pictures & drawings. As a lad in Marceline, Missouri, he sketched farm animals on scraps of paper; later, as an ambulance driver in France during the First World War, he drew comic figures on the sides of his vehicle. Back in Kansas City, along with artist Ub Iwerks, Walt developed a primitive animation studio that provided animated commercials and tiny cartoons for the local movie theaters. Always the innovator, his ALICE IN CARTOONLAND series broke ground in placing a live figure in a cartoon universe. Business reversals sent Disney & Iwerks to Hollywood in 1923, where Walt's older brother Roy became his lifelong business manager & counselor. When a mildly successful series with Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was snatched away by the distributor, the character of Mickey Mouse sprung into Walt's imagination, ensuring Disney's immortality. The happy arrival of sound technology made Mickey's screen debut, STEAMBOAT WILLIE (1928), a tremendous audience success with its use of synchronized music. The SILLY SYMPHONIES soon appeared, and Walt's growing crew of marvelously talented animators were quickly conquering new territory with full color, illusions of depth and radical advancements in personality development, an arena in which Walt's genius was unbeatable. Mickey's feisty, naughty behavior had captured millions of fans, but he was soon to be joined by other animated companions: temperamental Donald Duck, intellectually-challenged Goofy and energetic Pluto. All this was in preparation for Walt's grandest dream - feature length animated films. Against a blizzard of doomsayers, Walt persevered and over the next decades delighted children of all ages with the adventures of Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi & Peter Pan. Walt never forgot that his fortunes were all started by a mouse, or that childlike simplicity of message and lots of hard work will always pay off.

Pluto's Christmas Tree

A nice festive themed cartoon short. Pluto's Christmas Tree features the chipmunks Chip and Dale who happen to be in the Christmas tree that Mickey Mouse chops down.

Pluto pursues Chip and Dale but without success as Mickey goes about his very merry way decorating the Christmas tree.

There is some very nice animation and plenty of festive themed incidental music. Minnie, Donald and Goofy pop up at the end singing some carols.

Nothing More Classic!

When I think Disney Christmas shorts, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. When I think of classic Chip N Dale, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. When I think Disney Christmas anything, I think of Pluto's Christmas Tree. To me, Pluto's Christmas Tree, is one of those iconic films in the Disney archive that you need to see. It shows the Disney magic in only a few short minutes. You can't help but feel good and laugh at this classic Disney short.

Christmas Disney fun

Pluto and Mickey Mouse cut down a Christmas tree in which the chipmunks Chip and Dale live. The chipmunks follow them home.

Cartoon short with some of Disney's favourite characters. Although usually found in Donald Duck films, the chipmunks add to the fun.

Nice little Christmas cartoon, minus the chipmunks.

Mickey and Pluto decorate a Christmas tree that they had just brought in from the snow. But, it was a tree that the rodents Chip N' Dale were residing in and they decided to wreak havoc by playing tricks on Pluto, causing a wild chase that ultimately leads to a big mess.

Chip N' Dale are just annoying rodents who don't know when to quit and spoils everything, and poor Pluto has to suffer the consequences. It was nice though seeing some Christmas spirit in this cartoon, from the Christmas tree to the decorations, and finally to the best part of the cartoon, where Donald, Goofy, and Minnie make cameo appearances at the end singing Christmas carols.

Pluto Can't Win

This is another case of Mickey's dog getting too involved. When MIckey cuts down a Christmas tree, he doesn't realize that Chip and Dale live in it and end up in the house. When Pluto realizes they are there, he begins to attack. Unfortunately, they are much smarter than he is, and they torment him, knowing he will overreact. This has lots of charm and a nice Christmas message. It is colorful and filled with some really fun moments.

One of the Best Animated Shorts

Pluto's Christmas Tree (1952)

**** (out of 4)

One of the all-time great animated shorts has Mickey cutting down a Christmas tree for Pluto and bringing it back into the house. This is where the fun is supposed to begin but for Pluto it's a nightmare as Chip and Dale are in the tree and causing all sorts of havoc. PLUTO'S Christmas TREE is a classic short that gets better each time you watch it. It's been years since I had last seen it but I was still amazed at how fast-paced and fun the thing was. I think there are several highlights in the movie but one has to be the scene where Pluto knows that the chipmunks are in the tree and we see him jumping in there to find them but of course it destroys the tree. Another highlight is a scene where the chipmunks are inside the tree messing with the ornaments and one gets attached to one and we see him going all over the tree as Pluto frantically watches trying to get Mickey's attention. Of course, some other classic characters show up at a cameo towards the end capping off a perfect short to show around the holidays.

A nice little Christmas classic

"Pluto's Christmas Tree" is a good little Disney short which takes place on Christmas time. These few minutes of runtime are amusing, hilarious and excellent for good laughters.

It's Christmas time and Mickey's Christmas tree is ready, with all those lovely Christmas decorations (what a fabulous artwork this short contains). However, two "unwelcome" visitors come: Chip 'n Dale (the two little chipmunks). They enjoy the decorations so much that they make the Christmas tree their own "hotel".

What happens next is very funny. They can't resist to the tree's decorations and they can't take their hands out of them. They drive Pluto crazy and he chases them to protect the tree, which literally causes a huge mess.

However, Mickey forgives them because, after all, it's Christmas time and even Pluto feels the Christmas spirit and gives a chance to the two chipmunks. They all end up singing Christmas carols (along with Goofy, Minnie and Donald Duck).

Great voice talents mostly by Edward Brophy, James MacDonald, Pinto Colvig and Clarence Nash.

Nostalgic Xmas short film

I watched Plutos Christmas tree on Disney plus today I enjoyed watching Pluto the dog chasing chip and dale around Micky mouse log cabin and it had positive 2d drawing animation in the short film and i like when Micky says Pluto to get his attention with Mickys squeaky voice that scene was classic and i liked the scene were Pluto knocks over the Christmas tree that was slapstick and the ending was good when goofy and Donald and Minnie Mouse sing carols at the end of the short film that was nostalgic and it was very funny the short film it the best animation what uncle Walt did for the festive period.
