In the original script Rod Cameron's character was supposed to be killed, but that ending was scrapped.
Writer/producer John C. Champion and leading lady Cathy Downs fell in love and were engaged briefly during the making of this film.

The original plan was to shoot this western on 16mm film stock. Financing was then raised so that the film was able to be shot on 35mm stock.
