The character of the rich Dr. Helen Jackson (played by Laura Bowman) is inspired by real-life millionaire miser Hettie Green(1834-1916)
The title is a take-off on the notorious film Ingagi (1930) that was made nearly a decade earlier. This is believed to be the only horror film with, what was then called, an "all colored cast."
Dr Jackson calls her assistant "N'Gina", a name which means "One who serves" in the Kikuyu language spoken in Kenya.
Working title: "House of Horror"
Much like Ingagi (1930) and Voodoo Devil Drums (1944), this film is also considered an early predecessor for the Black Horror genre, paving the way for films like Night of the Living Dead (1968), Blacula (1972), Blackenstein (1973) and Ganja & Hess (1973).
