    naked vs. pants

I read that "Tick Tock Tuckered" is a remake of a previous Porky Pig cartoon, called "Porky's Badtime Story". As I've never seen the original, this is currently the only one on which I can comment. A lot of people will probably assert that Porky's best cartoons were the ones in which he was paired with Daffy, so that their personalities could bounce off of each other. Here they don't really bounce off of each other; in fact, it looks as though they cooperate entirely, as they did in another 1944 cartoon ("Slightly Daffy"). But there was something that I noticed. You may have observed that Porky usually doesn't wear pants (I wonder why the censors never realized that). This is one of the few cartoons that I've seen in which he wears pants. But, in the process of getting dressed, he's butt naked in one scene! Two extremities in one cartoon!

Otherwise, it's mostly a routine cartoon. The scene in which the moonlight prevents them from getting any sleep reminds me of the scene in "Insomnia" where Al Pacino tries to cover up the window to block the nighttime sun in Alaska. Anyone who's gone to Alaska can relate. As for the whole part about wanting to stay in bed after the alarm clock's rung...well, who doesn't like to do that as much as possible? PS: another Warner Bros. cartoon about having trouble going to bed is "Good Night Elmer".

Hickory Dickory Dock fun with Porky and Daffy

I love Looney Tunes, I love Daffy Duck and I like Porky, and Bob Clampett's Looney Tunes shorts have always entertained and interested me. Tick Tock Tuckered is a fun short. But I'd hesitate in calling it Clampett's, Daffy's or Porky's best. The story is a little routine, and a couple of parts drag. On the other hand, the animation is colourful and detailed as you would expect, and the music and sound effects are very energised and fit perfectly with the humour. Tick Tock Tuckered is more sight-gags driven in alternative to verbally. This is not a bad though at all, as the dialogue while more playful and witty in other collaborations between this duo is very amusing. But the best moments are in the sight gags, the ending is just marvellous and possibly Tick Tock Tuckered's highlight, while the repeated leaving-for-work gag is funny and not predictable. The part with the moonlight also exudes a chuckle. Both characters are on fine form. Porky has more to do than usual and does well with playing it straight, while Daffy as ever is wonderfully wacky. Mel Blanc is stellar which you do expect considering his calibre. Overall, fun if not among the best. 8/10 Bethany Cox

    Classic Porky and Daffy

This short directed by Bob Clampet is a remake of his 1937 short 'Porky's Badtime Story' and both shorts are exactly the same for the exception that the original had the now forgotten Gabby Goat and this one features Daffy Duck. Which is why I decided to review this one instead.

I'm going to be honest and say that the reason why I myself consider this short so funny is because I can relate to it. In fact everyone I believe could somehow relate to this short. At some point in your life especially when you're younger you tend to have a hard time waking up in the morning. And when you decide to go to sleep earlier something always seems to happen.

    It differs

Tick Tock Tuckered is remake of an early short, titled Porky's Badtime Story. So that sort of takes away some of the fun since this it's pretty much the same thing. But having Daffy Duck here adds more of a wacky and crazy sense than the other one. It's funny but not very funny.

Boss: [calmly and condescendingly] Well, well, if it isn't the Dover Boys. Heh heh heh. And only two hours late, too. Heh heh heh. Tsk tsk tsk. Oh, if you had only let me know, I would've gladly brought your work out to ya. Heh heh heh heh heh.

      [loudly]

Boss: NOW GET THIS! IF YOU'RE LATE ONE MORE TIME, YOU'RE FIRED! GET TO WORK!
