Henry Bellamann, the author of the original novel from which the movie was adapted, was born and raised in Fulton, Missouri. A special edition of the book reprinted for Bellamann's centennial in 1982, included a short biography and analysis about the parallels between Fulton and Kings Row, with a hand-drawn street map of Fulton with both the real street and building names, and those of the corresponding fictionalized streets and buildings of Kings Row.
