A collection of Alfred Hitchcock movies will be available for streaming on Netflix starting June 1, and Netflix is also staging a massive, six-week screening series at its Paris Theater in New York City that will cover many of the master of suspense’s classics.

Available for streaming on Netflix in the U.S. beginning on June 1 will be “Vertigo,” “Rear Window,” “Frenzy,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “Family Plot,” “The Birds,” and more. “Psycho” is already available on the streamer, as is the biopic “Hitchcock” as directed by Sacha Gervasi. The Hollywood Reporter has announced this afternoon that the Netflix-owned Paris Theater in New York will be celebrating Alfred Hitchcock with screenings of 36 of his movies.

“The series — Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer — will run May 16 to June 29 at the Paris Theater, which Netflix purchased in 2019,” THR details. “The films range from Hitchcock’s early works such as Blackmail to enduring hits such as Psycho and The Birds.”

Netflix is making it the summer of Alfred Hitchcock in New York. The streaming giant will bring 36 Hitchcock films to its Paris Theater in New York, as well as a dozen more features connected to the director — from those he influenced (Robert Zemeckis’s What Lies Beneath) to those which influenced him (Fritz Lang’s M).

The series — Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer — will run from May 16 to June 29 at the Paris Theater, which Netflix purchased in 2019. The films range from Hitchcock’s early works such as Blackmail to enduring hits such as Psycho and The Birds.

Thirty five of the films will play on 35 mm, including Birds, The Man Who Knew Too Much, North By Northwest, Rear Window and Vertigo. The New York Film Critics Circle is co-presenting the series.

How do you look back on Blackmail?

Blackmail was and will always be a special film for me. It was my only film with an actor par excellence who no longer is with us …Irrfan. It was my second film in the genre I love the most, after Delhi Belly: Dark Comedy.

Towards the end of the making, he had started feeling unwell, and he wasn’t himself when we were shooting the promotional video. Throughout the promotion of the film, he was unavailable, but he was suffering and fighting, perhaps what was the biggest battle of his life .

If only these veterans could see the sexiness that underlines all gender wars. Blackmail is a closeted Hrishikesh Mukherjee comedy with oodles of extra voluptuousness.

Another A-lister is joining the cast of Euphoria Season 3: Oscar-nominated actress Sharon Stone has boarded the HBO series in an undisclosed role.

The first iteration of Popeye the Sailor, literary classics by Dashiell Hammett and William Faulkner, Alfred Hitchcock’s first sound film, and songs like “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” are among the copyrighted works that will enter the public domain on Jan. 1.

As the calendar turns on New Year’s Day, thousands of copyrighted works across literature, film, and music from 1929 become open to fair use. This year’s slate also includes the French comic icon Tintin, Disney’s still-iconic The Skeleton Dance short (38 million views on YouTube!

Laurent Bouzereau’s essay film is included as a welcome extra on the upcoming Studiocanal release of Hitchcock: The Beginning. Narrated by US film critic Elvis Mitchell, as its subtitle indicates, the film takes Blackmail as its jumping off point, indicating the ways in which themes and techniques Alfred Hitchcock used there would go on to reappear throughout his career, including many of his more famous works.

Bouzereau also dissects Hitch’s different approaches to sound and silent film, since both a silent and talkie version of Blackmail were shot. Using split screen, the director is able to articulate the way that the auteur grasped the opportunities that were presented to him by sound to subtly alter scenes to his advantage. An illustration using the famous “knife” scene - where he accentuates the murder weapon both visually and aurally for his silent and sound versions - is particularly informative.

Becoming Hitchcock also sets.

European powerhouse Studiocanal has dropped a first clip and poster of its new doc “Becoming Hitchcock – The Legacy of Blackmail” by L.A.-based filmmaker Laurent Bouzereau.

The doc feature will have its world premiere at the Lumière classic film festival in France’s Lyon on Oct. 18.

Based entirely on archive material, the film explores the famous Hitchcock touch, through the making of one of his benchmark films, “Blackmail,” released in 1929 at the dawn of the Talkies.

Often referred to as the first British sound feature film, the film also exists in a silent version. Several sequences were reshot for the sound version.

By comparing the two, Bouzereau creates a novel way of exploring Hitchcock’s trademark themes such as murder, suspense, food and sexuality, providing a taste of what was to come in masterpieces like “Psycho,” “North by Northwest” and “The Birds” 30 years later.

MuBollywood actress Kirti Kulhari, who made her mark in the industry with ‘Khichdi: The Movie’, is all set to be seen reprising her role of Parminder in ‘Khichdi 2’ which is going to be a sequel to the 2010 comedy film directed by Aatish Kapadia.

‘Khichdi: The Movie’ which was released in 2010 revolved around the Parekh family and showed an interesting chemistry between Parminder, played by Kirti, and Himanshu (played by Jamnadas Majhetia).

Kirti, who was seen in movies such as ‘Shaitan’, ‘Pink’, ‘Blackmail’, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, and the web series ‘Four More Shots Please’, talked about the sequel and said: “‘Khichdi 2’ is finally happening and it’s going to be a hilarious ride. I have so many memories from the first film, from shooting the song ‘Chal Chal Bhonsle Market’ to doing all the crazy comedy scenes.”

Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol's son Karan's debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas will now hit the screens on September 20 instead of its initial release date of July 19.

The Ghayal?actor in February had announced that the film will release on July 19.

Sunny on Tuesday morning tweeted: "The wait may have become longer but it will be worth it! Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas will now release on September 20."

Apart from his son, the film marks the debut of another new face Sahher Bambba. She will be seen playing Karan's love interest in the movie.

The title of the film is taken from veteran actor Dharmendra's famous song "Pal pal dil ke paas" from the movie Blackmail, which released in 1973.

If I didn’t know about Irrfan’s health issue I’d still be shaken by his hangdog unenthusiastic expression as he plods through his chosen life of a born loser in this savagely funny satire on adultery and blackmail.

In the strikingly shot (by cinematographer Jay Oza) opening we see Irrfan struggling to stay afloat through his office hours, fighting shy of going home because the spark has gone from his marriage and wife who watches cheesy song sequences on television to while away her time. Actually it was never there, the spark I mean. In a wedding song that comes on at the end of the film taken from Irrfan’s Dev’s marriage to Reena (Kirti Kulhari) seven years earlier, we see how mismatched and ill-at-ease the couple was.
