I wanted to like this.

I really liked the look of the cast, like Eleanor Tomlinson and loved Craig Parkinson in Line of Duty. The adverts were everywhere this week so decided to give it a try but the story is very lacklustre. It does get a bit better, but the acting is also inconsistent and it just doesn't make a very good show as a whole. Ignore all the biased 1/10 and 10/10 reviews from people with agendas. This show isn't that bad or good, it is simply mediocre which is a big shame.

Gets better

Characters get better by ep.5 - even the men are getting less whiney; 'captain' is still far too shouty and unstable: not sure she got this far in life. Witch woman, tech-girl and flyboy are good characters now; screwball and dread-girl getting better.

Fun to watch

It was fun to watch. The story have some twists, romance, action, and lots of violence and blood!

The acting was not bad, the storyline could be better and the characters could have more depth and background story. But, I guess this gives the writers some materials for season two..

Guns and more guns, shooting and more shooting.

I was able to watch this streaming via Xfinity's Peacock site. My wife and I watched the first episode, she left when one of the characters began to lick up blood on the floor. I watched the entire episode and wasn't very impressed. But I wanted to give it a fair trial so I also watched the entire second episode.

"Intergalactic" by its meaning involves travel to another galaxy. But to me that is just a trick to make the show seem more interesting than it is. The setting is 120+ years in the future, 2145 or so. Much of the world we know now was in ruins by then but nothing seems to be done to tear down the ruins. To travel to another galaxy either takes thousands of years, or you have to learn how to warp space and time. But the space ships in this future still have lots of wires and switches, not a very likely development. No explanation is given, we just have to trust they figured out a way to do it.

So what we see is very limited imagination of what the future will be like. But they sure have preserved the widespread use of handguns, the same kind we use today. And almost every scene has someone pointing a gun and threatening to kill one or more people. Plus all the characters are ugly and unlikable. A very dark dystopian future and viewers who like that might like this series.

But not for me, I will watch no more. The space travel is just a gimmick, the story is really about bad people and isn't substantially different from all the other TV series featuring bad people.

A very ugly mess

Lost count of how many movies & shows this pile of garbage rips off in just the 1st episode, being influenced by other work is acceptable but completely copying is just criminal.

The negative reviews are not because this is a female led show as so many claim, it's simply because its an awful show, makes no difference the color or gender of those involved, the writing is simply atrocious, the dialogue is cringy, the effects are lazy & cheap, the amateur dramatics from all involved is simply embarrassing, set in the year 2143,122 years into the future & the term "pig" & "fed" are still used, what a joke, convicted criminals placed into cells in handcuffs in one scene then in the next scene the handcuffs have simply dissappeared, not just bad editing that's poor continuity.

Not a single likeable character in the entire show, a smug teen cop & a group of psychotic criminals are the protagonists of this poorly conceived unexciting, underwhelming & unimaginative pile of dross.

Shouting & screaming & running around waiving your arms about isn't acting & ugly snarling women frothing at the mouth being violent while swearing every other word isn't the defenition of a "strong woman", this is exactly what it looks like, a very ugly mess.

Rubbish.

Special effects are good. So someone put money into this.

I would not rate the acting as bad as the stupid script. It's a bit like blaming the chef for making a horrible meal when all he was given to cook with was poo.

There is zero believability and nothing makes sense. The interaction between the characters is... This is like watching a high school play written by the children. I hated the last season of Doctor Who for its bad scripts but I might watch it again now.

I find the only thing that kept me watching past the first 5 minutes was - will this at any point get good?

Not even Wentworth in Space

The special effects are on par with Black Seven, the dialogue and script dreadful. Unlikable characters, and the future society seem inept and far from advanced.

Has promise, potential for second season

Pretty weak script, but the story premise is interesting and I enjoyed it well enough. With a bit more focus on sxript, this show could bloom in season 2. Not a 10 out of 10, but not a 4 as is rated either.

Terrible

Why oh why??? Terrible acting all round, a storyline that could have been written by a 10 year old.

I wanted it to be good and forced myself to watch the pilot to the end, what a waste of time.

Should have been rewritten and made suitable for a much younger audience.

Up-and-down early on but then settles down with potential

Something very strange is going on here, everything up to the prison ship was first class but then collapsed into some of the worst acting I have ever witnessed. The actors performance was astonishingly poor and makes you wonder whether any of these people have ever even seen the inside of a dramatic arts Academy. My rating went from a high 8 to a low 2 between one scene and the next it was so bad. Then as if by magic, the direction/acting performance quality returned! It's all very strange and once you are through the first couple of episodes the show starts to get good. As a result, I'm hoping that the prison ship acting fiasco was just a blip and I'm actually starting to think that an assistant director (after a heavy nights drinking) told the actors to behave as weirdly crazy as possible.

Now, about the special effects, I've even seen a couple of reviews that have even suggested that the effects were "cheap and nasty". Well, I worked in the industry for 20 years and these are some excellent sets and effects. Actually, the only negative effects that I could pick up on was of the motion of the personal police ship at the start of episode one.

Didn't make it thru Ep 1

I just don't understand how companies like Sky can produce something this awful. There are so many good examples of Sci-Fi to reference that they don't even need to be original; just learn from what's already out there.

I gave it 2 stars because a) it wasn't a vanilla Hollywood yawn, and b) the production values were excellent - great effects.

Blake's Seven for Girls, Bad Girls.

This NOT as bad as the early ratings make out (3.6/10!!??) but deserves binging to really get into it.

It's a British Science Fiction TV show from Sky so don't get your hopes up that this will have the glossy SFX of some American productions like Start Trek Discovery.

And that also means you're going to get a bit more meat on your story than a mainstream US show.

What I found most interesting as the story developed was how much it kept reminding me of the classic Blake's Seven. We have a bunch of criminals and political prisoners to be sent to a prison world, who then escape and challenge a dictatorial Earth for their liberty and the future of mankind. Except this one doesn't have the wobbly sets of the original classic.

Performances are okay, typical of this kind of show, nothing too dramatic, but enough for SciFi family-friendly viewing, with adult language to add an edge of women fighting against a society that has abandoned or abused them.

There is nothing indistinguishable in the story to make it stand out but it will reward your time with a pleasant adventure, especially if you're a big Blake's Seven fan and miss it.

Not great, but not that bad, either . . .

I've just watched the complete series, and enjoyed it a mild kind of way. It's low budget, the script isn't great, and the acting is ok in parts - I'm glad to say some of the cast members obviously have some fun with it, and that comes through on screen.

Watch a fews eps and see what you think - it would be good if the title got a second series, and a bit more investment in script and story development.

As one of the probably very few people who can remember watching William Hartnell as Dr Who, I can testify to the show's rough edges and iffy bits - so don't be too enthusiastic about slating a programme like this. It could turn around with a second series green light.

Poor acting!

Oh man, this is poorly done in terms of acting. Sometimes in movies something is bad and something is good, but there is still a back compensation in between, so that what you consider bad actually starts to suit you because of other things that have been done very well. Here it is unforgivable, so at the beginning I was attracted by good scenes, visually well done (not superb but good), what turned me away from the show is that acting is rarely bad, I really have rarely seen such bad acting lately. Acting looks like in some high school project. Really a shame, visually it's done really neatly!sry.

Poor just really poor

Great idea for a show and I was really looking forward to this, unfortunately it is badly written with some awful acting (calling it acting is a bit of a stretch) sorry I can't think of any possives to say.

Dire

Cliched and badly overacted. I gave up on it 10 mins into Ep2 as I had hoped it would improve on Ep 1. I was wrong.

Intergalactic Tragedy

It is hard to describe exactly how bad this show is.

It seems that the producers wished to portray women in dominant positions, showcase women of colour and flesh it out with some dubious-gender roles. An ability to act, it would seem, was not a requirement and may even have hindered hopeful applicants.

Stereotypes, cliches, emotion-driven actions .. everything that a Female-centric platform would want to eliminate ..., they're all here, and they're in your face.

The only impressive feature is that someone has actually managed to produce a show that gives the exact opposite meaning to the one they intended .. and they did it so well.

The "Woke" and the "Feminists" are going to have a hard time with this one, because they won't know whether they should be supporting it or protesting against it.

Gets A Lot Better After First Episode, Give it a chance!

I must say that I would of agreed with the low score of Intergalactic if I had just watched episode one, I thought that I would stick with it and whilst it is no "Firefly" it did get better and better as it went along and I started to enjoy it more and more, I hope that they do make a second series.

So whilst this is not a classic, it is definitely very watchable(remember that this is a low budget production), I do recommend that you persevere with it.

Amazingly Bad!

My first ever one star review. Hurray! I probably shouldn't be celebrating that. Some cheesy 50's rubbish comes close but this truly is the worst I have ever seen (So far ...) Some people obviously put time and effort into making this series but I am baffled as to why?

It does gets better... But see if you can pick what's wrong with it?

One reviewer said that the acting was bad, but that isn't it. The acting is good, mostly.

The writing is cliche and a bit over the top. There are scenes that are unnecessary (probably rationalized as "character development"). The editing is a bit quick like there needs to be a beat or two after dialogue before a jump scene - It has the feel of a "previously on..." bit.

The directing improves as the series progresses.

The camera work gets better, too. In the beginning, it looked a bit jumpy like they were going to go the "24 method"... but thankfully, they did not.

Probably the biggest shame is Neil Maskell (Rasin Boy in Utopia was awesome!) didn't get a bigger roll.

If you are into sci-fi, it is worth a watch. If you like to deconstruct tv shows, then maybe you'll have better insights as to what is flawed that I have. Good luck!

Very disappointing

Well managed get get through one episode of Intergalactic and that's enough. Like a cheapo 80's film/SyFy Channel series. Too corny for me.

Decent watch but could improve

It started a bit weak but improves as it goes along.

A few decent actors in the bunch, has a good overall story, but episodically suffers from script/dialogue issues. Actors only have so much to work with.

I think its enjoyable if you dont scrutinise it too much. I reckon with a second season it could get really good, its budget and set is definitely good enough.

Ive seen shows far worse. Good for a watch it your bored .

Improved Over Time

The first episode of this was god awful but there were some quirks to a couple of the prisoners and I was curious about how they would develop. Thankfully the show got better but sooooooooo slowly.

There's a LOT of character (writing) flaws, too many cliche's to count, and I'm not sure if the direction or editing was what made some of the story line and interactions confusing. Eventually though I found myself getting quite angry and annoyed with some character choices and realised that I was emotionally involved with the show. So kudos to the team for being sneaky like that.

IF the show get a second season and keeps ironing out the bugs (writing and interpersonal continuity) then I think this show could be on par with the likes of Voyager, Blake's 7, Dark Matter or Farscape.

Oh, good God no!

I really thought I'd seen it all, especially when it came to bad movies/series ... but Intergalactic is 'special'. A script that, not only feels like it was written by a bunch of five year olds... but, ones who weren't allowed to communicate with each other or cooperate in any way.

The acting? Horrible... The dialogue, ridiculous... the Universe, pointless and confusing... The FX and nonsensical 'futurese' made me giggle a few times, but that got old VERY fast.

I really love cheesy terrible movies... but movies eventually end. The true horror of this show is that, given it's low budget, it may just drag out forever : /
