Peruna

The premise of this story is quite intriguing how the newly discovered alimentation, the potato (peruna) that we take for granted today, faces so many obstacles. Not only the vast dilemma of how to use it, but the resistance in general and especially from the powers that be.

The comical elements are there for satire. How history repeats itself and how much energy, effort and imagination is spent in order to prevent progress from happening.

But then, the outcome is more like an illustrated bullet listing where fashionable jargon terms are opened, at least trying so. At first, it is funny, then the jokish approach just eats it's way to oblivion and ends up being tiring to watch. No acting can save this - be it an angel or Mohican haircut with tattoos. The end result is just a piece of sadly spent time, be it the audience or the film grew.

Peruna - The Potatoe Venture - is supposed to be comedy about the guy bringing the potatoe to Finland in the 1600's.

The problem is that the script isn't very funny.

The comedy tries to be a Mel Brooks comedy which uses modern phrases for venture and inventions to such an extent it gets boring.

As the actors are to to act like this, they are doing a good job, but I'd wish the comical timing and jokes could be of an completely different level.

Sad, because the idea is good, and he movie turns out a bit below average.
