My immediate reaction when watching was to notice the incredible cinematography, it is really very well filmed and edited and it has an aesthetic appeal you don't see in million dollar productions. However, while I see a meaning beyond the basic scenes, I feel the characters could be more developed through dialogue or some sort of backstory. I would describe it as a snapshot from a longer film, and I would love to see a larger storyline in the future.
Overall an amazing first short film, good job to Noel (and cast and crew), hopefully we'll see even more from you in the future! :)

Being a fan of the TMG podcast and pretty much anything Noel Miller and Cody Ko do, I thought I'd check this short movie out. Overall, I thought it was quite for a YouTuber short film. The direction was surprisingly good and was shot pretty well with lighting and the overall tone was solid and consistent.
My only real concern with the film is the story, I like the idea of this innocently looking women being a serial killer, it's a funny horror movie story. But there isn't really any development. I understand how it can be quite hard with the runtime to really create a true character arc, and if they decide to make a feature length movie, it might be something they work on. But does need work.
Overall, I think they have potential. I've always said very few YouTuber's would be able to make the jump from YouTube to making working in a movie or TV business and I think Noel Miller and Cody Ko could do that, some of the very few that could.

I just want to say that I don't think many people could do better with a first short film with the budget it had.
I think this movie looks incredible and I think there was a lot of hard work and thought put into it.I thought some of the visual jokes were funny and the overall idea was pretty cool.
But on that note I think there's a lot that this fails to do.The dialog is pretty awful and the tone was just all over the place.I know that he said that he was okay with the pacing but I just don't agree.i think the some scenes went on for too long.i don't think there was need for the 20 seconds of the detective walking around the desert.I Also Feel as the editing was a bit off.In the podcast Noel mentioned that he was very inspired by "The end of the fu#*^% world" but I really don't see it. Overall I don't think you wasted your money if you decided to contribute in the go fund me .If for some reason you haven't seen it yet and decided to read this review first definitely go watch it and form your own opinion.

Noel Miller shot out with a bang with his first professional short film. With this sense of professionality comes these new responsibilities to uphold. For the most part, Noel keeps this up with continuous story and little to no dark patches, but he also makes several mistakes that should not be done with a work of art on this level as "Suki" is. I am not saying that there are no bad things about the short film, it is shot very well, the contrast of colors and the brightness of Suki's clothing compared to every other character shows herself as a more "out there" person. The special effects are done well, there isn't much to say about that. The main problem, and hardest to avoid is the writing. There is a plethora of plot holes in this film, but one can expect this in a short film thats about 9 minutes. Still, the writers should have avoided as many of these as possible. Another thing that was very annoying were the characters. Suki's character was fine, but everyone else was very hard to like and support (especially the detective). Some smaller thing that annoyed me was the dialogue. If someone told me it was from Kill Bill Vol. 3's leaked script, i would believe it. This film feels very kill bill-ey. The plot differs most of the time, but still manages to go back to its blatant inspiration.
I would like to end this review off with a good note. The ambience and the settings were exceptionally chosen. I like where this is going, but Noel and his future teams need to tighten up the loose ends. It is especially stressful to do these short films with an audience of over a half a million people watching it and criticizing it. All in all, "Suki" directed by Noel Miller combines a block buster horror concept with House Cinematographic elements. Neither of these elements overpower the other, and it leaves the whole experience, just meh.
