Sci Fi Taste

As lean and mean as they come, this sharp, sci fi centered mostly on four characters and some apocalyptic locations, and yet it surprisingly uncoils a decent number of shocks and layers. Good acting, Every character here is a victim.

Some Kind of Talent Showcase

I guess this was made as a talent reel, or showcase. Short film, just 31 minutes. The girls are pretty, and they make an attempt at martial arts. They are supporting role quality; and I hope they find work in film. I gave it five stars for the effort. Saw this on Tubi, the free streaming site; which features a mix of odds and ends of film. It has old B movies, some box-office flops, and films such as this one.

Raw Indie

This indie, low budget movie, is fun to watch. The movie's set pieces are effective. The audience is drawn into the all-too-real world of the apocalyptic conflict inside realm, trapped with characters that are scared for their lives, and act accordingly. What is surprising is that it's the longer, more static scenes of dialogue where the movie drags the most. The fight choreography is good for supporting actors who had no previous experience. The final, disorientating climax injects some much-needed pace and urgency, before a conclusion that results in a quick, surprise ending.

The movie was filmed backwards. Because actresses lived in different parts of the state and had other projects going on; the movie's ending scenes were filmed on the first day of shooting and the opening scenes on the last day of shooting.
