Amazon’s Prime Video revealed Monday that viewership for the first two episodes of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 3 was up 40% from the comparable Season 2 premiere. The two-part third season launch on July 16 drew 25 million unique global viewers across its first seven days of availability.
Prime Video did not disclose the initial viewership for “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 launch, which occurred July 14, 2023, for comparison, but it should be noted that batch launched with three episodes vs. Season 3’s two.

Viewers are apparently showing up for the final summer of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The third and final season of Prime Video’s YA series attracted 25 million worldwide viewers in the week after its July 16 premiere, the Amazon-owned streamer says. That marks a 40 percent increase over the same timeframe for season two in July 2023 (which would put the first-week audience at roughly 17.9 million viewers).
That figure (which also represents a tripling of the show’s first-season audience over seven days) makes The Summer I Turned Pretty the No. 5 returning show in Prime Video’s history, based on the streamer’s internal data. It trails only seasons two and three of Reacher, season two of The Rings of Power and season four of The Boys. A handful of debut seasons have also topped that mark.

Many fans of "Reacher" might not have been all that familiar with series star Alan Ritchson prior to the show's debut. If so, it certainly wasn't down to a lack of projects on the actor's résumé. Ritchson really broke through by playing Jack Reacher and, as such, must have seemed to some as if he'd come out of nowhere to play the bulky ex-military policeman. But the man has actually been toiling away since the early 2000s.
In his now two-decade career, Ritchson has appeared on screens both big and small in a variety of projects, including "Above the Shadows" (an overlooked Mma movie that's now streaming on Prime Video), multiple seasons playing Hank Hall/Hawk on DC's "Titans," and two "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies (though Ritchson hated filming them). In Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novel series, the titular protagonist is always on the go. As someone who doesn't want to settle down in one place, Reacher travels a lot, squatting in abandoned buildings and carrying nothing except a toothbrush and an Atm card. Sometimes when he's on a mission, Reacher has to ditch his cellphone too, but the upside of having very little to your name is the gift of anonymity. As he owns nothing that can be traced back to his past as an army major, Reacher can assume any identity he wants without raising immediate suspicion.
Jack Reacher has never been a conventional heroic figure, as Child frames him as a morally sound Goliath who sticks to his own code. This complexity has generated enthusiastic reader/audience interest in Reacher's everyday life, as he does everything a traditional hero doesn't, but still manages to look like...

“You should see the other guy. ”That’s the caption Reacher star Alan Ritchson went with in his latest Instagram video, showing off a fresh black eye from the set of Season 4. The short clip doesn’t reveal much beyond the shiner itself, but fans of the hit Prime Video series can read between the bruises — things are getting intense this season. The battle scar comes just weeks after Ritchson gave followers a behind-the-scenes look at the green room on set, accompanied by a heartfelt message about how production is going.
“I’m so excited about what we’re doing this year. We’re a few weeks in to a long stretch and I’m loving it all so far. Feels very right.”
According to Ritchson, the returning Reacher crew is back and better than ever.

Reacher star Alan Ritchson looks more intimidating than ever in a new image from his upcoming action thriller movie. Though some audiences will recognize him from projects like Smallville, Blue Mountain State, or The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), it's the hit Prime Video action series adapting the books by Lee Child that made Ritchson a star.
Reacher has been a massive hit for the streamer, with Ritchson taking on the lead role of Jack Reacher, a former MP who travels from town to town solving crimes and helping those in need. The show most recently returned for a well-received season 3, and Reacher season 4 is now confirmed to be on the way.
Following the Reacher premiere in 2022, Ritchson has become a more common sight in the world of movies, too. He recently appeared in Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024), for example, playing the formidable Anders Lassen.

Whether you're a fan of the Jack Reacher books or Prime Video's massively popular "Reacher" series, you've no doubt wondered at times how the character manages to get himself caught up in so many debacles, conspiracies, and general precarious situations. On the literary side, there are now 29 Jack Reacher novels as well as a collection of short stories, which means the titular character has managed to get himself caught up in bad luck and trouble — to use the title of the 11th book in the series — literally dozens of times.
With three seasons of "Reacher," we've also seen the ex-military policeman embroiled in some sort of nefarious scheme three times in a row, thwarting a small-town conspiracy, killing the man responsible for offing his former squad members, and bringing down an international arms dealer. "Reacher" has been a major hit for Prime Video and, as such, looks set to continue for some time to come. Viewers certainly aren't going anywhere if season 3 of the show is anything to go by. After a few things went wrong with season 2 of "Reacher," the series came out swinging for season 3, delivering a run of episodes that proved the best action show on TV has gotten its mojo back. As series lead Alan Ritchson's star continues to rise in the wake of the show's success, then, it seems the only future hurdle Prime Video and the "Reacher" writers will have to overcome is their lead's availability.

James Gunn has finally addressed the fan-casting of Alan Ritchson as Batman in Dcu’s The Brave and the Bold. Rumors have been circulating around the internet about Gunn’s Batman actor for a couple of years now. Gunn hasn’t gotten around to the casting of some of the Dcu’s other major stars, as he was busy with Superman.
But now that the first film is successfully running in theaters, it’s time for Gunn to decide on further steps in the Dcu. Most important of them all would be casting Batman. When Gunn appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he addressed some of the pressing Batman questions, including the casting of Ritchson.
When Josh Horowitz put out the fan-favorite Reacher star’s name out there, Gunn shared that he is a big fan of Ritchson. So yes, Gunn is very much aware of fans campaigning for the actor to be Batman.

Until the role of Batman in the Dcu is cast, fans will continue to campaign for their personal picks to get the part. One of the more popular fantasy castings for the Dark Knight in recent years is Reacher star Alan Ritchson, who's also been personally gunning for the role.
In a new interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn commented on casting the Dcu's Batman. Gunn was directly asked about the campaign for Ritchson to play Batman, which has managed to pick up some serious steam on social media. All the Superman director could really say is that he's a "fan" of Ritchson, hinting that it's very well possible.
"I am a big Alan Ritchson fan," Gunn said. "Both as an actor and as a guy. Let's just wait to see what happens."

Who will play Batman in the Dcu? That is the question that has been asked in almost every interview James Gunn has been part of, as well as in the responses to dozens of social media posts. In his lengthy interview with Josh Horowitz, Gunn could have just given the biggest hint as to who he wants as the latest actor to play Bruce Wayne on film – but we could be just reaching.
As Superman continues to dominate box offices around the world, Gunn dipped into many topics across an hour-long interview, from Henry Cavill’s Superman departure, to future plans for characters like The Flash and Aquaman. However, one moment saw Horowitz directly asking if recurring fan-favorite contender Alan Ritchson could be the Dcu’s Batman.

While Superman fans are feasting on James Gunn’s Dcu reboot, with Supergirl also officially in the can ahead of its release next year, Batman fans are still stuck in the shadows — and the latest wave of casting rumors is only adding to the intrigue. One name that’s been floating around the Bat-rumor mill with increasing frequency? Alan Ritchson, the Reacher star whose blend of brooding physicality and towering presence has made him a fan-favorite choice to don the cape and cowl in The Brave and the Bold. And now, James Gunn himself is weighing in.
Gunn addressed the latest on the Dark Knight in his Dcu, admitting that a new take on Batman probably wouldn't be released in the same year as Matt Reeves' sequel, and offered a nuanced (if noncommittal) take on Ritchson’s possible casting:
"Probably not, probably not in the same calendar year again.

In the premiere of Netflix’s Untamed, Eric Bana’s Kyle Turner arrives at a pivotal crime scene on horseback, visage grizzled and posture rigid against the backdrop of British Columbia impersonating Yosemite National Park.
With a combination of snark and reverence, one of the park rangers refers to Turner as “Gary Fucking Cooper,” leaving little doubt of creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith’s aspirations.
Despite being filmed primarily in Canada and boasting an Australian as its taciturn leading man (and a Kiwi as his kindly mentor), Untamed wants to be a throwback slice of Western-infused Americana, self-consciously going after the audience that has made Yellowstone and its various offshoots into one of TV’s most successful franchises.

The horror and innocence of Stranger Thingsmake it a one-of-a-kind show that fans are waiting to culminate despite a long gap between seasons. The show's cast has been teasing an emotional fifth and final season, and it will be as fans bid farewell to the long-running series. We have come a long way since Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) appeared in our lives, and fans' love for the show is further cemented by the new Nielsen data.
Per Deadline, Stranger Things is on Nielsen’s Top 20 streaming titles (Originals) list on #17. The list is full of new titles like Squid Game, Reacher, The Night Agent, and the likes, so for a show that hasn’t released a new episode in three years, it’s a feat. It also indicates that fans are getting an early binge going on as the fifth and final season arrives later this year.

Bluey is once again the most popular show in America, at least for the first half of 2025. According to data from Nielsen, the kids’ show was streamed for over 25 billion minutes between January and June this year.
That’s almost half of what it got last year when people watched it for more than 55 billion minutes total. Bluey has been showing up in Nielsen’s weekly streaming charts every single week for nearly three years, starting back in October 2022.

Bluey is officially the most streamed show in the U.S. for the first half of 2025. According to Nielsen’s latest streaming data, the popular kids’ series racked up an incredible 25.06 billion minutes watched between January and June.
That’s almost half of what it reached last year, which was a record-breaking 55.62 billion minutes. Bluey has been holding steady in Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for 143 straight weeks now, going all the way back to October 2022.

The results are in, and the streaming landscape was once again primarily dominated by acquired content in the first half of the year, according to a new report from Nielsen.
The company released a ranking Monday of the Top 20 streaming titles from January to June, ranging from a whopping 25.1B minutes viewed for No. 1 title Bluey to a solid 10.5B for No. 20 South Park. The three streaming-only titles that made the list were Squid Game, Reacher and The Night Agent.
In fact, Squid Game was the only made-for-streaming program that cracked the Top 10, putting up more than 15B minutes viewed in the first half of the year. This is quite impressive, especially given the measurement window. Season 2 of the Netflix series launched just days before the start of the new year and, while it certainly retained momentum into January, this tally is missing some monster viewership from the first few days of availability.

When the trailer for "The Bondsman" first debuted, it looked as though Kevin Bacon had found the streaming age premium drama that would prompt a full on Baconnaissance. After all, Kevin Bacon hunting down demons for the devil seemed like the kind of show that could really prosper on Prime Video, and for a while, it looked as though that's exactly what was happening.
"The Bondsman" was created by Grainger David and starred Bacon as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who gets a second chance at life courtesy of the Devil himself. The catch is that Halloran has to use his bounty hunting skills to track down escaped demons and send them straight back to Hell, which actually sounds like less of a catch and more of an awesome perk. The most streamed show of 2025 so far is … the same as the most streamed show of 2024.

The Simpsons season 37 gets an intriguing tease from showrunner Matt Selman, who previews a Reacher connection. Parodying pop culture is integral to The Simpsons. It's arguably part of the show's fabric, in a sense, considering the iconic image of the titular family gathered around a TV screen. The animated staple recently parodied The White Lotus, a breakout HBO dramedy.
The Simpsons season 37 will keep the trend going with a send-up of Dad TV that's arguably typified by Reacher. Led by Alan Ritchson, who has since become a breakout star, Reacher is one of Prime Video's biggest hits. Based on the novels by Lee Child, the series follows lone wolf Jack Reacher as he inevitably finds himself caught up in a dangerous conspiracy.

Reacher became a household name for Amazon Prime Video, leaving fans clamoring for more shows as good as this. Well, it’s always a good time to watch Patriot, a comedy-drama show that’s from the same streamer. It has two critically acclaimed seasons, with the second one earning an impressive perfect rating.
Unfortunately, Patriot was not renewed for Season 3, which was a bummer for many fans. With the evident success of Reacher, Prime Video needs to pick up and revive Patriot to keep the streamer’s winning momentum.

While Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher is still going strong months after its previous season was released, it was recently surpassed by a Star Trek series that is not even native to the platform. Strange New Worlds, which is a prequel to the original ‘60s Star Trek show, went ahead of Reacher in Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 charts this week (via Flix Patrol).
Strange New Worlds is streaming on Paramount+ and is available as an add-on channel on Prime Video, which makes it available on the platform. Alan Ritchson’s rise to fame as Jack Reacher has been spectacular, so much so that Prime Video is already gearing up for Reacher Season 4. But long before delivering his signature bone-crushing justice on screen, he played arguably his most odd role yet: The Expired Cow on Fred: The Show (2012).
In an episode that has since gained popularity, Ritchson played the role in a cheap cow costume to trouble Fred Figglehorn, hellbent on destroying a cake he was meant to protect. Ritchson’s cow grew progressively sinister throughout the episode. Before we get ready for another long streak of Reacher on Prime Video’s Top 10, come Season 4, let’s revisit this blast from the past and discuss why it stands as one of the most bizarre roles Ritchson’s played to date.

With James Gunn’s DC Universe gearing up for a new Dark Knight, fans are already making their voices heard—and now, Reacher star Alan Ritchson is getting the Bat-treatment thanks to some eye-catching new fan art.

He previously played Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Smallville and later returned as Hawk in Titans, so the cape and cowl wouldn’t exactly be a first for the actor in superhero land. Alan Ritchson showcases how perfect for Batman he is in new DC Universe art. Several actors have been rumored to take the lead role in Batman's The Brave and the Bold movie. That includes the likes of huge stars like The Boys' Jensen Ackles and Reacher's Ritchson, as well as newcomers, such as 1923's Brandon Sklenar.
After months of debate over whether Robert Pattinson could be the Dark Knight of Matt Reeves' The Batman Universe and the Dcu's Chapter One, James Gunn has repeatedly shut down that idea. A new Batman will be cast for DC's slate of projects, and the shared universe could use someone who would jump at the chance to play him.

Alan Ritchson debuted his latest season of Reacher earlier this year, but in 2024, he starred alongside a former Superman actor for a WWII thriller that’s been a streaming juggernaut. Ritchson stars alongside Henry Cavill and Eiza González in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the WWII action epic following a small group of highly skilled soldiers who are recruited by the British to execute a strike against the Germans. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is streaming on Starz in America and on Prime Video globally, where it’s one of the most popular movies in countries such as the Czech Republic and Finland. Danny Reagan’s youngest son Sean will look a little different when he appears alongside his dad on CBS’ upcoming drama series Boston Blue. Mika Amonsen has been cast as a series regular opposite Donnie Wahlberg on the Blue Bloods offshoot, taking over the role of Sean Reagan.
On Blue Bloods, Sean was played by Andrew Terraciano who recurred throughout the series’ 14-season run. According to sources, the recasting stems from the character taking a new creative direction on Boston Blue as he follows the Reagans’ career path into law enforcement. Meanwhile, the addition of Sean to the offshoot helps explain Danny’s move from his native New York to Boston.

Blue Ridge, a procedural that once aired on a sleepy Western network that you've never heard of, is now sitting above Reacher in the Prime Video Top 10. Yep, you read that one correctly. Amazon's biggest ever show is being held down by a series you've just found out about today. So how has this happened?
The Appalachian-set sleeper hit didn’t make much noise when it debuted last year on Insp, a Western-leaning network mostly known for syndicated classics and low-budget originals. But Amazon clearly saw something in it—and now, Blue Ridge is pulling bigger numbers than Reacher itself, with fans finally catching on to what’s being described as Boschmeets Yellowstone with a rural twist.

Fans of Robert Pattinson's The Batman movie think they may have just uncovered a massive Easter Egg in the score for James Gunn's new Superman movie. The film's score has premiered online ahead of its theatrical release on Jul. 11.

Superman's score is being handled by John Murphy and David Fleming, but there's easy to hear similarities with Michael Giacchino's The Batman score on Track #7. Jensen Ackles' new show, Countdown, which is being touted as a Reacher replacement, seems reminiscent of action movies from the '80s. The show's creator, Derek Haas, has now opened up about what inspired him to make the show, revealing the real season behind its '80s vibe.
Haas said that when he was talking to Amazon, he could not help but recall how much he loved the vibe of action movies like Die Hard, Romancing the Stone, and Lethal Weapon. Realizing how most shows in the crime genre had become too dark and cynical and less like the ones from the '80s, he wished to create something that brought back the classic energy.
The showrunner also shed light on how he learned about task forces through a Chicago intelligence cop. This paved the way for him to center Countdown around a task force that investigates a murder before uncovering a massive conspiracy.

Netflix has decided to cancel two of its newer series, Pulse and The Residence, both of which only made it through one season. The news comes from Deadline, who reported that viewership just wasn’t strong enough to justify keeping them on the platform.
The Residence was released on March 20 and starred Uzo Aduba, known from Orange is the New Black. She played a detective investigating a murder that happened during a White House state dinner.
The mystery show had a light tone despite the murder theme, and it got pretty good feedback. Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 85% critics score and a 78% audience score. That’s actually higher than what Squid Game received.
But the series had one big problem: it was expensive to make. Deadline says it might have been the most costly White House set ever built for TV, which made a second season unlikely.
On top of that,...

It's hard being an actor sometimes, even when you're Alan Ritchson. Long before he got to play beloved characters like Jack Reacher on "Reacher" or Young, Handsome Scully on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Ritchson was playing small roles in series that probably didn't deserve him. The worst of the lot? Expired Cow on a 2012 episode of "Fred: The Show."
Who was Expired Cow? He was an evil, imaginary cow who wanted to smash a cake that main character Fred Figglehorn (Lucas Cruikshank) was supposed to take care of. Fred decides to battle the cow to save the cake and prepares for the fight by training with an imaginary talking cookie. In the end, Fred defeats the cow by remembering its weakness is bad trombone music. Upon being beaten, Ritchson's Expired Cow explodes, never to be seen again.
To be clear: When we say Ritchson played a cow, we don't mean that Ritchson...

Amazon may not have found the next Reacher just yet—but that hasn’t stopped Countdown from rocketing to the top of Prime Video’s streaming charts. Despite a dismal 36% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, Countdown, the new action-thriller series from One Chicagocreator Derek Haas, has claimed the #1 spot in Prime Video’s “Top 10 TV Shows” list as of July 3. It even cracked the #2 spot on the platform’s overall ranking, trailing only behind the buzzy teen drama We Were Liars. With a weekly release schedule that kicked off July 1, only three episodes have aired—but that’s all Countdown needed to announce itself as Prime Video’s latest contender in the action space.
And while critics haven’t exactly been kind, audiences seem to be responding differently. The show currently holds a more respectable 72% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, proving once again that streamers sometimes care more about watch time than Tomatometer numbers.

It makes sense that three years will have passed since The Terminal List's release on Prime Video before the show's prequel spin-off, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, debuts next month. Star Chris Pratt is a busy man, with a host of big-budget franchise films to lead and cartoon characters to voice. In the years since The Terminal List came out, Pratt has voiced the main character in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, and has starred in the hit Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which made over $850 million worldwide. Now, his action-thriller streaming series is experiencing a surge in interest, just days after the spin-off unveiled its first trailer.
According to FlixPatrol, The Terminal List was the eighth-most-watched Prime Video show in the United States on July 3. It repeated the feat on July 2, earning a total of 19 points on each day. The Prime Video chart was led by Countdown,...

The Netflix medical drama "Pulse" seemed poised for success when it was first announced. Who wouldn't want to watch Willa Fitzgerald (of "Reacher" and "The Fall of the House of Usher" fame) try to survive her job at a Florida trauma center? Yes, the format of the show seemed a little similar to previous hit series like "Grey's Anatomy" and "ER," but by early 2025, both of those shows were firmly out of the limelight. As such, "Pulse" appeared to be filling a new hole in the TV landscape; the apparent logic over at Netflix was that it had a surefire hit on its hands, just so long as no other streaming service released its own hard-hitting medical drama around the same time.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. In January 2025, three months before "Pulse" dropped, HBO Max released the first episode of "The Pitt." The show quickly took off, garnering mass...
