So of course they hyped up the trailer right..........its a movie about a demonic spirit coming to collect ova a debt. Its not a bore as some of the reviews states HOWEVER it "definitely" not a classic eitha on anyone's list that's remotely a fan of DECENT horror. Is it worth a watch? Yes it is, as i believe give anything and all things a chance. Were the special effects disappointing? Lets place blame on budget. Was the acting good? Not everyone seemed experienced, was it a decent script? It was fair, the plot twist was good though@ the ending. I WON'T SPOIL IT for those who give the film a chance @ watching it. I am into horror and i can honestly say this didn't make it to any of my list other than being classified as horror to give it a watch..........nothing beyond that.
This movie could have been so much better with the right screenwriter. The premise is very intriguing, it is just the screenplay that is poorly done. This could have been a very clever, fun Knives Out-type scary movie. Knives Out is a typical dysfunctional family mystery movie with a clever plot. This is similar, but the story is just really bad.
The Patriarch of a wealthy family gathers his heirs around to read his will, everybody will get a piece of his estate, but only if he survives the night. Someone is out to get him but who? (Fascinating right?). That is the hook. Then mayhem unfolds like most horror movies, then the plot thickens. The characters are all pretty archetypical, which is fine, but the dialogue is really cringy.
The Acting besides Peyton List is also subpar, it some scenes it is downright laughable.

I recently watched "The Inheritance," a film that promised an intriguing blend of mystery and horror but unfortunately fell short on delivering a captivating experience. With high expectations, I settled in for what I hoped would be a night of suspense and frights. Instead, I found myself struggling to stay awake.
The movie's plot revolves around the concept of an inheritance that comes with unexpected and eerie consequences. While the premise had potential, the execution was disappointingly lackluster. The storyline moved at a snail's pace, making it difficult to stay engaged. The tension that should have kept me on the edge of my seat was almost nonexistent, leading to a monotonous viewing experience.
One of the most significant letdowns was the film's inability to generate genuine scares. Horror movies thrive on their ability to evoke fear and suspense, but "The Inheritance" failed to do so. In fact, I found myself more startled by my own reflection in the mirror than by anything that transpired on screen. The jump scares were predictable, and the overall atmosphere lacked the haunting quality that makes a horror movie memorable.
The characters were another weak point. They felt underdeveloped and unrelatable, making it challenging to invest in their fates. The protagonist's journey, which should have been compelling, was marred by uninspired performances and clichéd dialogue. The lack of depth in character development left me indifferent to their plight.
On a positive note, the cinematography and setting were commendable. The film featured some visually striking moments, and the eerie mansion provided a fitting backdrop for the story. However, even the impressive visuals couldn't compensate for the movie's overall shortcomings.
In conclusion, "The Inheritance" was a disappointing watch. Despite its promising premise and visually appealing scenes, it lacked the necessary elements to keep me engaged and entertained. If you're looking for a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat and deliver genuine scares, this one isn't it. Save your time and opt for something more thrilling - perhaps even a good, long look in the mirror.

I liked the premise of The Inheritance and therefore hoped for an original flick with some decent scares or at least an interesting story. Pretty much immediately we are thrown into the basic setup of the movie. The four estranged children of Billionaire Charles Abernathy have to make sure that he will survive the night because apparently someone or something is coming to kill him. It sounds a little stupid but also intriguing at the same time. After the premise was set, we get to know each of the characters. They are stereotypical, annoying and even a little bit insufferable. Obviously as the narrative progresses the first bodies are found and the movie almost lost all my interest. Like I said the characters are dull and the actors were probably more focused on their paycheck then the actual role. However towards the end, the movie gets a little bit more interesting. Once more is revealed to the audience and you get a look at some pretty decent looking effects and the actual threat, the movie goes from poorly executed and boring to a rather interesting setup. But sadly this moment comes way too late and shortly after the end credits roll. If the movie would have been more like the last 15 minutes it certainly could have had the potential to entertain more, but sadly that is not the case and the audience has to endure the first 60 minutes. The movie basically had the potential and I feel like in a few years this could deserve a remake with a bigger budget and more experience behind and in front of the camera. [5,2/10]
I recently watched The Inheritance (2024) on Hulu. The storyline follows a billionaire who gathers his family and associates at his estate, informing them that something-or someone-is trying to kill him and is already inside the house. He locks everyone in until they can figure out who or what is behind it. As people start dying while trying to protect him, the inheritance is passed on to the surviving family members. But can anyone stop what's happening, or are they all doomed?
Directed by Alejandro Brugués (Juan of the Dead), the film stars Bob Gunton (The Shawshank Redemption), Peyton List (27 Dresses), Briana Middleton (The Silent Planet), and Rachel Nichols (G. I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra).
The cast delivers solid, authentic performances, but the storyline feels overly familiar, resembling Ready or Not in many ways. While there's an air of mystery surrounding the events, the horror elements are hit or miss. Some of the ghostly CGI effects are entertaining, but the film lacks memorable kills. The plot is predictable, and the conclusion feels both cheesy and straightforward.
In conclusion, The Inheritance is a below-average addition to the horror genre, worth watching only if you have no better options. I'd score it a 4/10.
