First watch:
Watching it FDFS and the first hour of the movie got so boring that I concentrated only on eating the snacks, especially the romance part was an utter waste, then after Rayappan's entry, Vijay's performance made us not to even blink our eye, it was an awesome performance.
There were about tens of messages unrelated to the content as it was a sports-based movie and the gameplay was very much poor that it looked nearly like a video game and not like a stadium match.
The introduction was fantastic, Vijay's performance was top-notch but overall on a macroscopic level, it was not a satisfying movie.
Second watch: As I knew that the romance portions were not worth watching, I simply ignored it and only by this time, I did realize that only until Rayappan's entry the movie was bad and after that it went really well and the fact that I didn't get bored during the 2nd watch itself is a good one for any movie.

First of all, Atlee has stuck with his usual winning formula for this film also, a different film but the same format, but there is nothing wrong with that as long as it seems fresh. He wins again in that aspect.
The movie touches upon some important social issues and stigmas and managed to capture the emotions regarding those.
The first half is a feast for the fans. The backstory of Bigil and Rayappan had been played well by Vijay. Sometimes you doubt that it is being played by a single actor, it was that perfect. The sentiments around the father son relationship has been executed and captured perfectly. The first half is filled with mass and class scenes with superb dialogues that you expect from a Vijay movie.
The second half is where the emotions kicks in. This half of the movie will definitely fill all women audience with a sense of pride. With the female anthem 'singapenney' adding to the already grand visual treat. The VFX in the football matches were pretty bad in the beginning but it really stepped up in the second half. The rich storyline had definitely taken a toll on the movie by increasing the duration. Some of the football matches scenes could have been trimmed.
The direction and screenplay was upto the mark.
The cast was perfect. Nayantara deserves a special mention along with the football team. They played an exceptional role in the emotional aspect of the movie.
The story is good, the message it seems well and good.
The music direction was awesome.
Another movie that adds to the winning streak of the actor and director combo.
Overall a good movie.
Bigil - a movie that you expect to see on a Deepavali weekend, which took the usual social message formula pretty seriously. Not only that, the execution got the right emotions from almost everyone. There are tons of things that could've been done better - draggy screenplay, father-son interactions, romantic portion etc. and yet, the film still works out. Reason - Thalapathy letting his girls to do the job!
The latter half was dominated by the girls, which actually made the film happening, apart from the comic relief by Yogi and Vivek. ARR delivered one of the finest BGM for a non-Maniratnam movie, after a long time
The way this man carries the movie, Thalapathy Vijay is surely in his pinnacle of his career.
Witnessing a man making mockery of how unbearable the movie was, and yet staying through till the end credits, summarises the result!
Bottomline - a fantasy commercial film backed up by high production value.
Go for it. Have fun. But, don't forget to switch off your critic sense, especially if you are a football fanatic.

Worst Movie in Recent Times in Tamil Cinema. Too Much Lags and Dull Scenes are the drawbacks of the movie. Atlee's worst ever attempt and lengthy duration testing audience patience. Emotional Scenes are well connected.
Really hard to say the how much intensively emotions hard to me. The concept that purely succeeded the direction "entertainment". Considering that it's surely a guaranteed flick to start to the intermission, after the turns are gone to some serious incidents but the factor "entertainment" keeps well and to fixed the film tuned a mega visual amaze with the extraordinary star Thalapathy Vijay. Surely you can watch it for Thalapathy Vijay and grand direction of atlee. It's usual but something are really workout because the fair presentation.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaIt is the 3rd movie of Vijay and Nayanthara combo.
- ErroresDuring the interval scene, when Michael (Vijay) climbs on to the moving train, he leaps with his left-leg in front, but ends up landing with his right-leg in front.
- Citas
Michael Rayappan (Bigil): When you played only for yourself, you couldn't do it. But when you played for the team, you were able to do it. That is the team spirit you idiot! Don't play for the name on the back of your t-shirt! Play for the homeland etched in your heart. Every goal you score is not your individual glory but your team's effort. Goal of your audience who is supporting you and goal of your state!
