The Verdict has bunch of talented actors in it and ALTBalaji has made a good web series again! Plot contains realism and facts are properly shown, the drama this case leads has also shown thoroughly but more lavish lifestyle has been shown of that era (1959) which is not convincing. All actors were good but Sumeet Vyas, Saurabh Shukla & Makrand Deshpande were amazing! Direction & Editing were good, screenplay is average but Cinematography is too good! The courtroom drama is not shown properly and the use of English language is quite more shown. The climax is not properly written and the twist factor was also missing but overall the brilliant performances of all actors, direction, dialogues brings Entertainment. The Verdict is worth watching!

It is inspired from real life Nanavati case , Rustam movie already released on this case but I must say it so much better than that as no stone remain unturned in this series regarding the case so much research has been done and well executed 60s era. A must watch.

Just finished binge watching entire series with just one break. Its actually a piece of art and was absolute delight to watch. The plot is very complex yet director has managed to maintain a netural stance through out the story. The fact that this story has no hero and no villain is what makes it very special.
Big budget bollywood directors who dishout crap one after another should learn something from the director ( Mr Suri). Acting (by most) is top notch especially Makrand Deshpande, Saurabh Shukla and sumeet Vyas are a delight to watch.
Production values are good and sets appears authentic. There are subtle references to 50s and 60s (like splitting of Maharashtra and Gujrat, doctors admiting that "smoking is bad for health", devanand and ashok kumar movies) which pulls one right back to the old times.Series also goes on to make a strong point about our heavily male dominated hindi film industry.
Over all it was an engaging series with enough twists and turns to keep one interested all the times. one of the best courtroom dramas I have seen since " a time to Kill"
Well done team!

Makrand deshpandey steal the show. sumeet vyas is bad choice. How can A 95 year older talking like young man. He has not done proper research or study about Mr. Ram jethmalani.. And Another actor can be taken instead of manav kaul. He looks very older

Bollywood has produced numerous versions of the Nanavati case over the decades starting with "Yeh Raste Hain Pyar Ke" and the last being "Rustom", where different spins were given to the original subject. Zee5's "The Verdict" is perhaps the only narrative that reproduces the actual courtroom drama, the cause and profound effects it had on the country's legal system, and how the media played a significant role in distorting the judgement. Wing Commander Kawas M Nanavati, a much decorated and admired navy officer returns home to discover that his wife Sylvia has not only been having an extramarital affair with the alleged playboy Prem Ahuja but also swears of being in love with him, he shoots Prem dead with 3 successive shots in a crime of passion. Kawas then surrendered to the Mumbai police and admitted having committed the murder, an act that shook up the naval force and the ministry of defence, affecting even the Prime Minister of the nation.
The top brass quickly gets into action to quell the damage caused to the reputation of the armed forces and engineers a campaign to turn the case around, against the wishes of Kawas. Blitz, a daily newspaper run by its editor Rusi Karanjia was commissioned to safeguard the reputation and influence the outcome of the case, who played a masterstroke in dividing the nation on the basis of ethnicity and religion, affecting the jury's verdict.
"The Verdict" is an exceptionally made series that remains true to the original case, plays out high drama through rock solid performances and steers clear of turning out into a documentary. Angad Bedi as the defence lawyer Karl Khandalawala, Saurabh Shukla as Rusi Karanjia, Makrand Despande as prosecutor Chandu Trivedi, Sumeet Vyas as the narrator and external counsel Ram Jethmalani and Swanand Kirkire as Judge R B Mehta fire up the screen so much that the episodes turn bingeworthy. To that end, the central characters of the Nanavatis played by Manav Kaul and Elie Avram, and that of Mamie Ahuja (Kubra Sait) are downplayed by director Shashant Shah subtly, compared to the Bollywood melodramas on the same subject that glorified them.

Poor !! There are far too many additional boring elements in this Court room drama. I was already bored in the second episode. Not the kind that will hold your interest for long.

"The Verdict "was an average show that should have been edited a bit more tightly,so as to make same more gripping and tense than it ended up being. The performances ranged from average to above average. However I found the ending to be highly disappointing

Why in the name of sanity would you give this title an above 9 rating. For those who don't know please watch the movie names RUSTOM starring Akshay Kumar. This is a lame remake of the same movie into series for no use. Why the hell would you make a series out of an already made movie seriously ???? The acting and all is fair enough but too much mumbo jumbo in this. The audience are not glued to their seats for this.

'The Verdict: State Vs. Nanavati' is a beautiful Bombay ode to the late 1950s India and the sprawling Anglican-Indian culture there as much as it is an informative, amazing courtroom drama.
The film acquires the essential spicy elements which deconstruct the variants of the court case the film has as its base- the film is back to the roots, but it doesn't choose to be a silent, noisy courtroom procession recreation- and how would it, when the maker is Ekta Kapoor, and the base is ALT Balaji?
But the film breaks its stereotypes by creating a sweet love triangle which pays homage to the cinematic style of the gone days. But when it comes to creating the court case in actual, she also rouses the inner Anubhav Sinha- or as we can say by looking at the recent times- Ajay Bahl. These are really well-executed sequences with the cast at top of their game- looking at Elli Avram, we can say she is definitely matured and not worth only 'least expectations'. Manav Kaul as KM Nanavati is also absolute.
Watch 'The Verdict- State Vs Nanavati' for its important story. But more importantly, its a relevant in terms of direction also- something Rustom never managed to achieve.
These proceedings are told, but, with mainstream brushstrokes. The film isn't as broad in its mannerisms as its records. It doesn't even look for depth.
But it still manages to be one of the best Hindi web shows of the year. I am going with 3 out of 5 for the series and an extra half for Manav's outstanding performance, making it 3.5 for 'The Verdict- State Vs Nanavati'. After 'Bose' series, an unbelievable offering by ALT Balaji.

Shows beautifully the love of a couple in all thick & thins. Manav Kaul gets into the character so well that you can connect well with him playing his role forgetting the outer work.
