L'immortale

Gomorra, the series this movie is based on, was a brilliant insight to the poverty and crime in Naples masterfully written by journalist Roberto Saviano. The first 2 seasons were based on the book by Saviano and provide all the necessary closure for the tragic story of Ciro Di Marzio. The rest of the TV show was written to bank of the popularity of the first 2 seasons.

The movie is a further attempt to bank on the very beloved character of Ciro. There is no character development in this movie. There are surprises, but they're very in-your-face. There's very little of reality in this film. It's sad to see the brilliance of Saviano turn into a mediocre thriller. That said, I did enjoy the movie. But it so much less than what it could have been. In fact, the whole Gomorra universe after Season 2 is simple feel-good entertainment.

Italian cinema is just astonishing. The movie left me speechless because of how thrilling and compelling it is. Props to everyone who worked hard to make this movie the best it can get. I'm sure the Season 5 of Gomorra will also be as great as the rest of the seasons including this movie. Marco is extremely talented and I'm we're going to see a lot more of his work in the future. Solid 10/10.

It is better to watch this powerful italian crime film when following GOMORRA series too, and watch this film between season 4 and 5 of the TV show. But for those who are reluctant to watch a 58 episodes series, and there are many of them, then the film can be OK to be seen anyway. Italian film industry is over the top, better than average when it is question to produce films about gangs and mafia: Cosa Nostra, Ndrangheta Camorra, Sacra Corona, less known and located in Pouilles area. Mix up between falshbacks and present is OK, not complex to follow. I wait now to watch the fifth season of GOMORRA. And will comment it afterwards.

Just amazing. It's incredible how italian cinema is getting better day by day, and this movie is the proof! Ciro is a 3D character, not the classic mobster because we can feel his emotion and that's awesome

This one looks like a final chapter in the series, but also leave it open in the final part. If you didn't watch the "Gomorra" series you can't really fully appreciate this movie.

Very well done and vastly underrated.
