.......................,
'Bob Biswas'; The Man, The Myth, The Legend. I'm just delighted that he finally got his stand-alone feature. Frankly speaking, it was long overdue! Since the release of Kahaani, back in 2012; I have been waiting for this day to come.
What was initially imitated by the Bengali Veteran, Saswata Chatterjee; for one reason or another, the role eventually landed in Junior Bacchan's Lap!
And Boy Oh Boy! Did he grab this opportunity with both hands.
Generally, I despise iconic roles being given to anybody other than the primary individual. In this case though, things are quite different. All thanks to Abhishek Bacchan; to put it in simpler words, he made the role his own. I know and I'm very much aware of his capacity as an out and out performer, but still, I wasn't expecting him to nail this specific role in this way and that too in such an elegant manner!
Now, the film itself isn't some embodiment of perfection, by no stretch of the imagination! Various arguments can be applied in regards to its comparatively dreary Screenplay or a myriad of vulnerable loopholes! Even the character developments, definitely not the strongest suit.
However, what it does best is that it empowers Bob Biswas with a sturdy enough platform, gives him this fairly newer personality, at the same time, showcases a rather personal side that was all hidden behind this veil of a psychotic, relentless murderer!

This is both a spin-off and a prequel to Kahaani (2012) and at the same time an origins story of the assassin Bob Biswas from that movie.
In that movie this role was played by actor Saswata Chatterjee. Where as here Abhishek Bachchan plays a slightly younger version of that character.
The story is about this middle aged guys who we are told has lost his memory in a accident and doesn't remember anything. Then he is discharged to a family in a very Overboard kind of situation, but not really.
He is then picked up by two men who may or may not be cops. They tell him that they are the ones to be thanked for his freedom from his previous life as an assassin and they need to now work for him. Are they telling the truth or are they just using him? He doesn't know. Neither do we. And that's the fun of it. Does he get his memory back? Does he get all the answers?
Abhishek Bachchan is just outstanding in this role. He gives it his all. This effort form home to reform himself has been showing constantly in his recent movies and I'm all for it.
Supporting him are other great actors who don't really get to deliver much other than Chitrangda Singh who plays his wife. She has a bit more substantial role compared to other supporting characters and does get a chance to Display her performance charm.

The first kill in Bob Biswas is from where I got involved in the film, which carries a slow-fast pace throughout, as we dive deeper into the enigma that is Bob, a serial killer. Thanks to the persistent background score and Abhishek Bachchan's deadpan performance as the titular character, I breezed through this. Towards the end, I had to sit up and seek the media player backward to make sense of what was going on. That is the pace I was talking about. A great affair.
It did not make much sense. Attention to details was missing. Climax was disappointing. Did not match caliber of the original character story Kahaani.
Giving 5 only for Abhishek.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaSaswata Chatterjee declined to reprise his role as Bob Biswas as he did not want to play the character anymore, Abhishek Bachchan was then approached for the role and signed.
- ErroresThe paper bad used by Kali Da to give Bob a gun for the first time has news about Jyotiraditya Scindia joining BJP. This means the newspaper must be from the month of March 2020.
In the film later in another scene Dhonu goes to morgue and gets in to fight with a doctor. In this scene the calendar on the wall is of the month of February 2020. This clearly indicated continuity error in the time-line of the story.
