Heartbreaking

A very real, raw, emotional exploration of the entirely avoidable tragedy that unfolded on Valentines Day 2018.

Unfortunately the director is at various points grossly insensitive and intrusive in his questioning of survivors in a way that is very uncomfortable to watch.

Enjoyed but...

Documentary is well done and I enjoyed as much as you can a documentary on such a horrific tragedy. However.... The interviewer conversing with the parents was too straightforward. He comes across as harsh and truly lacking in compassion.. kind of ruins the whole thing as I became distracted by my anger for this guy who I believe is the director, Charlie Minn.

Graphics at the beginning are very well done and as the dots change from green to yellow or blue, your heart really breaks because these are such senseless lives lost.

I wish they would have delved a little more into the shooters possible motivations and outcome.

"Being There"

A documentary is, unlike a movie, where you get to meet the actual people who were involved in an incident and in the two hours that I watched, I felt that I was hearing from people whose lives were deeply changed as was mine, from just listening to them. I stand in awe of their bravery.

A little shaky.

I don't know if I would go as far to call it truly exploitative or disrespectful, but it rides the line at a couple of points (Minn's interviewing style is sometimes a little aggressive though, considering some of the interviewees, for sure).

The other potential issue is the length and the repetition. It's technically not very competent, in terms of how it looks and is cut together, and does get by because of the content and some of the emotional stories recounted... and the fact that I think at its core, it's intentions are ultimately good.

Heartwrenching and Important

Seeing this was incredibly important, but so, so incredibly sad. I am so lucky to have never been through something so tragic and terrifying, and after the event I was scared our school (also in Florida) would be next. It's incredibly scary to think about and my heart goes to every victim who died that day, to the ones who never got to graduate like I did. To the students and faculty who will forever be traumatized by this event, my heart goes to them. Please just be aware of everything going around you and stay safe.

Terrible interviewer

Insensitive, totally rude questions, I deeply feel for the victims but the interviewer/director is not the right person who should have done this movie at all.

Asking questions to victims with survivor's guilt like "how do you live with that every day?" is downright stupid and outrageously insensitive. The guy has an emotional IQ of about zero.

To real for a family member to get past 15 minutes

I highly recommend a warning for individuals who lost someone in a mass shooting be added. There is not currently one and after less than 15 minutes I could watch no more. For those who don't know what it is like this is very educational but for those who have lost someone in this manner a disclaimer should be added because this was damaging to my recovery from grief because I didn't understand how real it would be because there was no opening disclaimer to warn me.

Enough Sensationalism

The director used cheap, dramatic questions to provoke sensationalistic answers from victims and witnesses. There's always someone who will exploit tragedy for personal gain. The film does offer interesting perspectives from witnesses, but the directors sensationalistic tactics are deplorable and desperate.

The Documentary was Extraordinary

It is a shame that this keeps happening, but the silence at the end of the documentary seems to be a little ridiculous

Agendas Abound

The director turned what could have been an important documentary into exploitation at its worst. The gut-wrenching questions to the families and the survivors were absolutely shameful. The 20/20 hindsight and finger pointing clearly show where the director wanted this tripe to go. If you enjoy suffering and the blame game, watch this one. If you don't, watch something else. This film is terrible in every sense.

Sad attempt to sensationalize

The line of questioning from the director are completely insensitive and inappropriate. This is a sad attempt to capitalize on a tragedy.

DNF

This definitely has potential. It's raw, the footage is terrifying, and you truly feel like you're in the school with the map.

I did not finish this documentary. There were many moments that I found the interviewer to be inappropriate, then he asked a survivor how she "lives with the guilt" of her friend being shot instead of her. What a disgusting question, asked only to get the reaction of this poor girl who watched her friends die. That's just insensitive and cruel, I turned it off immediately.

My heart breaks for all of the victims and their families. This is a hard watch for many reasons.

show what is real.

Watching this video moved me very deeply, sadly those who made this film were only focused on the awards they expected. my very first review so yes you can kiss it. this is not an isolated event, what gave these guys the advantage was the cell phone footage of the beginning (the other events like this did not have cell phones so those that told the story made a lot of money) sad, i FEEL for everyone involved. victims and police. NO ONE knows how they will react unless you are there..despite your training. STOP ROMANTICIZING EVIL. be real. i love you. tragedy is tragedy, i am hugging you.

Sorry but its way too soon and the trial wasn't even over when this was made & released

The trial was still going on and families mourning when this was being filmed and released for entertainment. This is not entertainment these are real lives that were ruined. I grew up 5 mins away from this school and had friends who went here. We are deeply effected by this and the who shall not be named is not even getting the death penalty. Please PLEASE consider our feelings and what we have been through before releasing a film for entertainment. I hope the proceeds go to the family's effected by this horrible event.

Its good to spread the word but this is so terrible.

Apparently my review is too short so here.

Minn is a Crap Director and Storyteller

Watch any of his Garbage documentaries.. Finger Pointing and Hindsight. Clearly a Liberalistic view.. and Minn shouldn't be allowed to videotape a Christmas Concert .

Inexperienced and insensitive

Some was interesting (and obviously horrifically sad). I was moved by the words of the survivors and their families. It's started out okay. But the questions from the director were so ridiculous, so insensitive, so juvenile. It was like a film that an immature high schooler would write. I felt terrible for the position the families were put in. It was also wayyyy too long and a lot was repetitive. Weak editing. Felt like some content was just a time-killer. Looked like a student film from a C+ student. Such important subject matter and it turned out to be, well, cringe. I started out "enjoying" it (if that's the word) but as it went on, it just became embarrassing.

Let's blame the police again...

Honestly I don't get how this director keeps making movies In every movie he blames the situation on the police I started this movie being like he finally is actually talking about the victims and the survivors and not blaming anyone but the shooter Nope asks very inappropriate questions That to be honest if I had gone through that event I would have been so upset And obviously again blames everything on police officers STOP LETTING HIM MAKE MOVIES !
