I have been watching Japanese drama for more than a decade. Pornographer is the first BL love story that I have ever watched. Before that, I have to admit BL story is not something I would like to watch. However, the drama changed my mind completely. It is a very touching and pure love story between two guys.
True love can beyond all the boundaries. I am so moved when I saw Kuzumi's love confession towards Kijima san even he knows Kijima lied to him at first. That scene is extremely beautiful and romantic. Even though the confession is very touching, what Kijima did next is unexpected but somehow predictable. That is the fun part of the story. The story actually is simple but full of playful twists.
The flow of the story is prefect. Nothing is redundant. Every element in the drama works. I can see the two main actors have put a lot of hard work into the characters. I am so impressed by their performance. When Kuzumi tries to kiss Kijima at sleep, I can feel my heartbeats racing just like Kuzumi. They are nailed to bring the characters to life.
The director also did an excellent job. He nearly followed the whole original comics except the last love scene. I think this is a smart trick. It leaves room for audience to imagine. The drama is filmed extremely romantic and nothing erotic (although quite a lot of love scene). I can feel nothing but the beauty of love when I finished the drama.
I cannot compare with other BL drama since I have not watched so many but I believe Pornographer is one of the best love story I have ever watched. And I think this is the main idea of the drama, a touching and pure love story that two person naturally fall in love.

I have to confess, when I first decided to watch this show, episode 1, I was simply drawn by the title (smile!). Late night show, internet tv show, I was expecting something steamy and juicy. However when I realized, half way down the series, I couldn't recall by now (as I have repeated watched the total 6 episodes over and over again, sequentially, or non-sequentially), maybe at the end of episode 1, or halfway of episode 2, I was drawn in by the mood of the storytelling, and the performance of both the actors, Takezai Terunosuke and Izuka Kenta. The visual, is very beautiful, in my opinion. The story is pretty simple, basically it is just a love story between Kijima-san(Takezai-san) and Kuzumi-kun(Kenta-kun) and the struggle of a writer, who's Kijima-san, who's encountering a "writer-slump". On and off, the editor of Kijima-san, Kido-san(Yoshida Munehiro) will be there, just to create more "sparks" between the two. (smile) This series has somehow be categorized as "BL" (Brothers Love) or Gay, or whatever you name it, however, in my opinion, the story is beyond these masks that the public has given to it. The director/writer, Miki-san has definitely delivered an amazing art work. Why do I call it an art-work? Despite the cinematography (I like the simple japanese style of filming, well, as I am pretty much into japanese style photography) as you watch the story going, it ponders you with loads of wondering and questions, of the emotions that the two (Kijima Rio and Kuzumi Haruhiko) were going through. Furthermore, the theme song, Twilight Dreams performed by Chihiro, Onitsuka is a beautiful song, it added more points for the emotion of this tv series. The directory, Miki-san, and the production team, has definitely made their best selection on the actors (Takezai-san, and Kenta-kun) to perform as Kijima-san, and Kuzumi-kun, both of them are adorable, and they both, handled well of the mood of this story. I'll say, they've brought life into the characters, Kijima Rio, and Kuzumi Haruhiko, to this manga-adapted story, created by Miss Maki, Marukido.
