Katie Ryan works as a caption writer - twenty words or less - for Chicago-based Modern Woman magazine, it a job to which she didn't aspire in wanting to write more than twenty words at a time. Despite not even knowing its nature, she campaigns to her boss, Sabrina Galler, for a last minute assignment to write a full article when Sabrina's originally assigned writer has to pull out. Despite it being an article on glamping - glamour camping i.e. tenting and outdoor activities combined with spas and five star food - which would require staying at Sunrise Resorts for a week as field work, confirmed city girl Katie, who doesn't even own hiking boots, still wants the "undercover" assignment and is able to convince Sabrina to assign it to her when she pitches that it be written from her honest, fish out of water perspective. It isn't until she arrives at the resort that Katie learns that its head wilderness guide is famed outdoorsman Will Martin, also an environmental biologist who took the job to further his conservationist goals in wanting to protect the environment around the resort. With Will's dedicated guidance, Katie is able to feel more and more comfortable in pursuing one untried outdoor activity after another rather than spending all her time in either the spa or at the pastry bar. Katie's life at the resort is made more complicated in many ways when she starts to fall for Will. First, she, regardless of how Will may feel in return, doesn't want to step on the toes of the resort's owner, Olivia Barry, who seems interested in Will herself. And second, when Sabrina learns about Will, she wants Katie to change the focus of the story to him, the "hunky mountain man", which Katie knows would be against Will's wishes, he who had been burned by journalists in the past. In the process, Katie may have to choose between the article/her career and Will, who would be hurt and feel betrayed by the press yet again, in this case by Katie, with such a story.—Huggo
